Dorian looked at the panel. The elevator was crawling down, stopping at nearly every floor.
He shoved one hand in his pocket, stepped into the private elevator, and called out, “Arden.”
“Hm?”
“Come here.”
She shook her head. “No thanks. I’ll wait for the regular one.”
Dorian didn’t argue. He signaled Lucien to close the door. Arden let out a breath. Good. He didn’t push.
Downstairs, Caleb’s car was already parked. He stood outside, leaning against it, watching the building
entrance.
He spotted Dorian and looked him over.
Caleb scoffed, “Still showing up at the office with stab wounds and bullet injuries. Real commitment.”
Dorian ignored the tone, walked over with a grin. “What can I say? Just wanted a few more glimpses of my wife.”,
“Your wife?” Caleb raised an eyebrow.
“Of course. But you wouldn’t get it–you’re single.”
Caleb snorted. “Dorian, try using that brain. What did my sister ever do to deserve the way you treat her?”
“I’d never hurt her,” Dorian replied lightly. “She’s too precious.”
“You’re kidding me. You faked a divorce papers to fool her.”
“Caleb, you’re my friend. I’d rather not fight with you–it’d just upset Arden.”
Caleb let out a sharp laugh. “Wow. Sensitive now, are we? Trying to make up for all the crap you pulled? You trying to earn brownie points by playing the dying man card? She asked me not to come after you. Said you’d be upset and it’d slow your recovery. Otherwise, I would’ve already knocked your teeth in.”
Dorian pulled out a cigarette and offered one. Caleb didn’t take it.
Dorian didn’t mind. He stuck it in his mouth and reached for his lighter.
Caleb yanked it away. “You’re still healing. Smoking now? What–trying to make yourself sicker so she’ll take pity and come back to take care of you?”
He threw the lit cigarette to the ground and stomped it out.
Dorian didn’t argue. He’d forgotten. If Arden found out, she wouldn’t be happy.
Caleb crossed his arms. “When you’re fully recovered, let me know. I’ll beat the crap out of you then.”

Dorian stayed calm. “No need to be so aggressive, Caleb. Once I’m out of the woods, I’ll text you.”
Caleb laughed coldly. “You divorced her.”
“You know me,” Dorian said quietly. “If I don’t want it, it’s not happening.”
Caleb shook his head. “You insisted on keeping the marriage a secret. You tried to make her jealous. You ignored her, froze her out. Now that she wants to leave–you forge a divorce just to keep her?”
He was furious.
“She told me not to come for you. Said she didn’t want to cause trouble while you were recovering. That’s the only reason you’re standing here.”
He stepped forward. “So if you want a beating–fine. Let’s get it over with.”
Dorian pointed at his own face. “Go ahead.”
Caleb didn’t hesitate.
He’d watched Arden suffer through four years of a fake marriage. Now that she’d finally walked away, this man handed her a fake divorce papers to reel her back in?
He didn’t care if Dorian was injured. He punched him. Hard.
Dorian didn’t dodge.
Lucien flinched. Colton and Kade, hidden nearby, almost rushed over–until Dorian held up a hand to stop them.
His face turned with the blow. Blood trickled from his lip. Caleb was just as tall, and he hadn’t held back. That punch landed hard.
Arden came out of the building just in time to see her brother land the hit.
Knowing what Dorian was capable of, she ran over, shouting, “Caleb!”
Both men turned at the sound of her voice.
“Arden,” Caleb greeted, softening instantly.
She stepped between them, subtly separating them. Then she saw the blood at Dorian’s lip and the swelling on his cheek.
Her heart sank. Oh no. Caleb hit him.
She had no idea how Dorian would retaliate. But Caleb had done it for her.
So she didn’t look at Dorian. She grabbed Caleb’s hand, holding it tight. “Nice punch.”
Then she lifted his hand and asked, “Did it hurt?”

Dorian, speechless. He was the one who got punched. Why the hell would Caleb’s hand hurt?
He said flatly, “Arden, in case you missed it, I’m the one bleeding.”
Arden tugged Caleb a step back before looking at Dorian. “You probably mouthed off and pissed him off. Caleb’s calm and reasonable. He wouldn’t hit someone for no reason.”
