Cassian stood to the side, thoroughly entertained. Still, even he didn’t get Dorian.

As soon as they stepped outside, Isla asked, “You wanna come crash at my place?” The wine on Arden’s face had smudged her makeup. But her heart felt even colder.

Arden shook her head. “Caleb bought me a place in Cloudwind Court. It was always supposed to be my backup plan. I’m moving there.”

“You sure you wanna be alone?”

“I don’t wanna go back to the Wynn house. My parents would worry.”

She paused. “Definitely not going back to Dorian’s villa.”

Isla fumed, “Good. Cut it off clean this time. Arden, don’t let yourself waver again.”

Arden looked at the traffic rushing by. Her voice was soft, but steady. “I won’t.”

“Need me to come with you to Silverbay to pack?”

“No. You go home. I’ll have Caleb send someone to drive me.”

Arden called Caleb. He answered, still sounding concerned. “Arden, are you okay?”

“I’m fine. Did Rory drive you over?”

“Yeah.”

“Mind letting me borrow him for a bit?”

“You sure you don’t want to come home tonight?”

“I’m heading to Cloudwind Court.”

Caleb didn’t say much, just told her to stay safe. Arden got in the car, pulled out her phone, and blocked Dorian on WhatsApp and on his number.

Arden went upstairs, washed her face, changed, and began packing. She had always known she’d leave eventually. That’s why she never brought much. One suitcase was enough.

She didn’t look back as she wheeled it downstairs. Martha saw the suitcase and panicked. “Miss, where are you going?”

“Martha, don’t call me that anymore. There’ll be a new lady of the house soon. Thank you… for everything.”

She handed her a small envelope. Martha was flustered. “Where are you going? Please, wait!”

She didn’t take the envelope. Arden placed it on the stair rail and walked out without a glance back.

Martha realized she couldn’t stop her, so she called Dorian. No answer.

She tried again every five minutes. Finally, half an hour later, he picked up.

Her voice was rushed, almost breathless. “Sir, she’s gone.”

“What do you mean?”

“She packed everything and left Silverbay Villa.”

The line went quiet. When Dorian spoke again, his voice was even colder than usual. “Where did she go?”

“She didn’t say.”

Dorian pulled out his phone, dialed Arden’s number. “The number you’ve dialed is currently busy. Please try again later.”

He called again. Same. Great, she blocked him.

He opened WhatsApp and typed, “Where are you?”

A “failed to send” notification popped out. Blocked again.

Dorian turned to Lucien. “Call Arden.”

Dorian shot him a glare. “If mine worked, would I be asking you?”

Lucien hesitated. “She really blocked you?”

Dorian didn’t answer. He was too annoyed. Lucien tried the call. It went through, but no one picked up.

“Want me to send someone to look for her?” he asked.

“No.”

Dorian still didn’t realize how serious this was. He figured Arden loved him too much to stay away for long. She’d cool off and come back.

But Arden? She was done. She arrived at Cloudwind Court around 10:30 p.m. First thing she did was turn on the hot water for a shower.

Only once she was soaking in the tub did she feel alive again.

She couldn’t believe how foolish she’d been for years. Letting go hurt–more than she wanted to admit. But not forever.

“I don’t want you anymore, Dorian.”

After her bath, Arden stood before the misted–up mirror.

She looked herself in the eye and said, “Good. You felt it. The moment someone stops loving you, you knew to let go. You’re doing great, Arden.”

Caleb had known about her marriage from day one. The moment she got married, he had this apartment prepared for her. Over the years, he made sure someone cleaned regularly.

The place was spotless. Fully furnished. Ready for her the moment she finally chose herself.
