The only thing missing wasfood. The fridge was practically empty. Arden made a mental note to hit the grocery store after work tomorrow.

After her skincare routine, she snapped a photo of her new place and sent it to Isla.

Just got home. Showered and settled,Arden said.

Looks cute. Super cozy,Isla replied.

Gonna grab some flowers tomorrow, stock the kitchen. Then it’s perfect,Arden said.

I have an idea,Isla texted. Want me to come over tomorrow night? We can do groceries and make something fun to celebrate your new life.

Yes please!Arden said. I’ll wait for you after work.

Deal. Get some rest,” Isla replied. You looked wiped tonight.”

Arden stood by the floortoceiling windows, staring out at the glittering skyline of the city’s CBD. She took a long, deep breathand smiled.

The Cloudwind Court was located in the heart of downtown, in one of those rare listings that were impossible to find unless you already knew someone.

It also happened to be walking distance from Vale Groupfifteen minutes on foot, tops.

Ever since she made up her mind to let that man go, to stop expecting anything from him, her whole chest felt lighter. For the first time in a while, she slept soundly.

That same night, Dorian had pulled up the security footage in front of everyone.

The video was crystal clear. Lacey had seen Arden approachingthen deliberately fell to the ground. After that, the hotel lobby staff completely turned on Lacey. Their looks said it all.

Dorian watched the footage, then glanced toward the lobby entrance. Arden was already gone.

The next morning, Arden got ready early and left before 8 a.m. She walked slowly to the office, even stopped for breakfast on the way.

She arrived at 8:15. What she didn’t expectwas to run into Dorian at the entrance.

He was still the samesharp suit, tie perfectly straight, posture cold and commanding. The kind of man who made people instinctively step aside.

Arden spotted him from a distance and deliberately slowed down, hoping to avoid him.

But Dorian seemed to be waiting for her. There he stood, right in front of the building, as if he knew she’d be walking in.

So she didn’t hide. She walked straight up, head held high. She didn’t greet him.

When he looked at her, she didn’t meet his eyes. She just walked past, straight into the elevator lobby.

Lucien watched the whole thing. Dorian’s face was pale from lack of sleep, but the coldness in Arden’s eyes? Oof. He had no idea what to do with that.

The elevator doors opened. They both stepped in. It stopped on the fifth floor for a moment.

Dorian stood behind her. Arden acted like he wasn’t even there.

Finally, he asked, Where did you move to?

He’d gotten a call from Martha the night before and assumed she had gone to Isla’s place. But when he came home to the villa, all her things were gone.

Not a single piece of her clothing in the master bedroom closet. All her skincare, toiletries— gone. She’d erased every trace of herself.

Arden turned around slowly, her eyes calm and clear. Mr. Vale, I moved out to make room for your precious girl. Shouldn’t you be happy?

The cold formality of Mr. Vale, paired with her icy tone, made something in Dorian’s chest twist. Don’t be dramatic. Just come back tonight.”

He hadn’t slept a wink with her gone. Arden almost laughed. This is ridiculous.

What did he think she was? Some emotional support tool? A placeholder?

I’m not coming back,” she said firmly. Not tonight, not ever. If you want a divorce, I’d be thrilled. I don’t want a cent of your money. Just let me know the date to sign, and I’ll be there.”

Her voice was clear, her tone cold. The girl who used to look at him with softness and longing was gone. All that was left was ice. She actually said the word divorce.

I never said I wanted a divorce,Dorian snapped.

I don’t care, she replied. You spent five hundred million on a necklace for another woman. You believed that girl without asking a single question. This isn’t about you wanting a divorce. It’s about me not wanting you anymore.

Every word she said now was laced with coldness. Not like the shy way she used to say babe.”

And yet, Dorian felt a strange panic bubbling in his chest. It vanished just as quickly, but it was there.

Then she added, You can fire me if you want. I’m not dying to work at Vale Group. I’m not dying to see you either.

Arden, don’t come crawling back later.

I won’t.

You’ll regret this.

She looked at him with a sarcastic smile. You used to be special to me because I liked you. Now I don’t. You mean nothing.

The elevator dinged. She stepped inside, hit the button for the 26th floor, and let the doors close without looking back.

The sweet, gentle girl who once clung to him like sunlight? Gone. Even her gaze now felt like it belonged to a stranger.
