Chapter 88 Too Late to Explain Anything

He didn’t even get a chance to explain before she ran out. He hit the office phone. “Lucien, get in here.”
Lucien had just seen Arden storm off outside, and he already had a bad feeling. The moment he got the call, he rushed in. “Boss.”
“Tell Warren,” Dorian said. “From now on, anything Sienna’s group has, client dinners, project meetings, any kind of social event, I want it reported to me in advance.”
So that idiot doesn’t get set up and taken advantage of, and still not even realize it happened.
Lucien nodded fast. “Yes.”
Then he added, “Miss Wren is waiting at the café near the office. Do you want to go now?”
Dorian checked his watch. It was already lunchtime. He stood. “Yeah.”
Some things needed to be confirmed face–to–face. He wasn’t just taking her word for it anymore.
Lucien hesitated. “If Mrs. Vale sees you, isn’t that… kind of bad?”
“She doesn’t care.”
At the same time, Arden wanted to thank Sienna for stepping in and blocking drinks for her last night, so she decided to treat Sienna, Talia, and Clark to coffee. They picked a café close to the office so they could get
back on time.
After lunch, the four of them headed over together.
Clark couldn’t stop himself from teasing. It was the first time he’d ever seen Sienna actually agree to hang out at a café.
“Wow, Sienna, is this favoritism? I’ve asked you out for coffee like a dozen times and you’ve never said yes. But Arden asks once and you’re suddenly free?”
Then he looked at Arden. “You’re not letting her get away with everything just because she’s pretty, are you?”
Sienna cut her eyes at him. “Why would I come out for coffee with you if I don’t have to?”
Sienna clutched her chest. “Wow. First time I met you, I thought you were some playboy type. I was just a sweet, innocent girl back then. What if one latte with you dragged me into a life of crime?”
Clark got all worked up. “Sienna, how can you say that? Do I look like that kind of guy? I’m a law–abiding citizen. Right, Arden?”
Arden smiled. “Clark, are you really complimenting yourself right now?”
Talia was laughing so hard she nearly doubled over. “Okay, okay, calm down. But seriously, Clark, don’t tell me you’ve got a crush on Arden. Because no. She needs someone gentle and patient, and you’re nowhere
near that.”
Clark groaned. “Talia, what do you mean I’m not? I’m not ugly. I’m actually pretty handsome, okay?”

He stepped closer to Arden. “Hey, did you send my WhatsApp to your friend?”

That first glance he caught of Isla after work had been a full–on lightning strike, and he hadn’t stopped thinking about her since.
Arden winced, guilty. “Ugh, I’ve been so busy these last two days, I completely forgot.”
Clark waved it off. “No big deal. Ask her now. Just making friends. More friends means more connections.”
Arden didn’t sugarcoat it. “Clark, I’m gonna be real with you, my friend comes from one of wealthy family. The Boyd family. She’s been treated like princess since she was born. She’s never had to struggle.”
Talia nearly screamed. “Oh my god. Arden, your friend is that level of rich?”
Arden nodded. “Yeah. We were classmates as kids, it turned into a real friendship.”
Clark actually froze for a second.
He already knew her background wasn’t simple, but this was next level.
Still, that kind of first–love–at–first–sight feeling didn’t just go away. And if he never even tried, he knew he’d regret it.
“It’s fine,” Clark said quickly. “You ask her anyway. I’ll send you a photo in a sec, you show her what she’s working with.”
Clark had always treated Arden well. He never singled her out, and because of Talia, he’d even looked out for her. Just yesterday, he helped her clap back at Bonnie. So Arden agreed.
Talia, still curious, turned to Sienna. “Wait, Sienna, do you have a boyfriend?”
“No,” Sienna said flatly. “Why would I want one? Waste of time.”
Talia stared, “What? You’re gorgeous. How are you single? You have to have guys chasing you constantly.”
Sienna looked out at the busy street, her expression calm and detached. “They chase. They’re immature. I don’t have time.”
Yeah, that sounded like Sienna. Everyone knew she was a workaholic, cold and stunning, the kind of woman who’d need a strong, mature man to match her.
They joked around as they walked, and soon the café was right ahead. Talia suddenly stopped and blurted, “Oh my god, look, is that Mr. Vale in front of us?”
All three of them turned at the same time.
The man ahead was tall and broad–shouldered, dressed in a black shirt and black pants, one hand in his pocket, looking dangerously confident.
It was Dorian, unmistakable. Clark’s gossip mode kicked in instantly. “That’s the boss. Why is he here?”
Following Dorian’s line of sight, Clark’s eyes widened. “Wait, by the window, there’s a woman sitting there. Damn. Don’t tell me Mr. Vale is sneaking out during lunch to go on a secret date.”
