Chapter 89 The Savior Plot
Dorian that damn bastard. He was just kissing her in the office a second ago.
She couldn’t help grabbing a napkin and wiping the corner of her lips again.
Talia noticed the movement, “Arden, what’s up? You haven’t even eaten yet, your lips are clean.”
“Oh, nothing. Thought I had something on me.”
Finished
Clark and Talia were already in gossip mode. “We’re just heading to that table next to Mr. Vale’s. There’s a huge plant in between, they can’t see us. Let’s eavesdrop a little, see what they’re talking about.”
Arden shook her head. “That’s really not a good idea.” She had no interest in hearing a single word.
Talia’s eyes stayed glued to Dorian’s table. “Girl, you don’t know the half of it. Our boss has been running the company for years, always calm, always self–controlled, never seen him with a woman. You’ve no idea how many women have tried to throw themselves at him, and he’s shut down every single one of them cold.
“Aren’t you even a little curious what kind of woman a guy like that actually goes for?”
Arden shook her head. “Not even slightly.”
If he somehow landed on someone like Lacey–fake as hell–then the man’s probably blind anyway.
Talia had already grabbed her arm and started dragging her over. Sienna didn’t say a word.
Guys like Dorian? He’d never look twice at ordinary women. And Sienna wasn’t the delusional type—she never once thought the boss would even glance her way.
All she wanted was to work hard, get paid well, and carve out her own life in this city. That was enough.
She did admire him–of course she did. A genius in business. Made a name for himself young.
That was why she’d fought like hell to get into Vale Group the moment she graduated.
So Arden had no choice but to follow them over.
After sitting down, Talia and Clark leaned in with their ears up like they were in a spy movie. Arden and Sienna just looked at the menu.
Across the room, Lacey was practically vibrating. Lucien had called her earlier to say Dorian agreed to meet. She’d been giddy ever since.
She still remembered the first time she saw his photo–Vivienne had shown it to her–and it had left her breathless.
Dorian Vale. The golden boy of the four most powerful families. The kind of man every woman dreamed of marrying.
She was the daughter of a mistress. Just saying that out loud made her feel dirty. She’d been raised outside the family, found only recently, and still had to put up with being bullied by the others in the Wren family.

Chapter 89 The Savior Plot
But if she could land a man like Dorian? Who’d ever dare look down on her again?
Vivienne could see the hunger in her eyes. “Trying to land a guy that far out of reach?”
“I–I don’t think I could.”
Finished
Vivienne had stared her down cold. “Of course not, not with you being all timid like that. But lucky for you, that face of yours might still be good for something.”
She was right. That sweet, innocent look–easy on the eyes. And she looked… just enough like Arden to make it work.
“Do what I say, and he’ll be yours.” To Lacey, it sounded like the best deal she’d ever been offered.
“Follow my lead and I’ll get you into acting. You’ve been dying to break into the industry, right? Once you get some roles, get a little money, you won’t need to depend on the Wren family. You’ll finally have some pride of your own.
“And once you get Dorian? Alice and the rest of them? They’ll be groveling to you.”
Lacey had spent her whole life craving recognition. And Dorian–god, Dorian. Just looking at him once, who wouldn’t fall for him? He was the kind of man who stayed in your head after a single glance.
She swallowed hard. “What do you need me to do?”
Vivienne looked her in the eye. “Pretend to be someone. His savior.”
Then she laid out the story. The details of what happened to Dorian in Northmere, everything. Vivienne even hired people to work on Lacey’s skincare, her posture, and her etiquette.
The Haflin Global charity auction had been the first time Lacey saw Dorian in person. One look, and she was done for. She couldn’t believe this man might actually belong to her one day.
Which only made her more determined to make him fall for her.
If she could convince him she was the one who saved his life in Northmere, he’d be emotionally tied to her
forever.
Vivienne gave her a very specific detergent brand and a light perfume. “This is the scent the girl who saved him was wearing. Make sure he smells it when you’re near.”
Lacey followed every instruction.
At the auction, she bumped into him on purpose. And when she said she was the girl who saved him in Northmere–he actually reacted. She saw it. His eyes lit up for a second.
That was all she needed.
Vivienne told her to create tension with a girl named Arden. When she saw Arden, Lacey immediately felt threatened. She was beautiful, elegant, and carried herself with quiet strength.
So she staged a fall. Made it look like Arden had pushed her. And Dorian–without asking anything- immediately defended her.

It was… satisfying.

She watched Arden’s expression shift–disbelief giving way to heartbreak. Something in her just broke.
Then he sent someone to deliver a five–million–dollar check to “thank her” for saving him.
Now, sitting in this upscale café, she watched the man she’d been dreaming of walk in.
He had that untamed edge to him, confident and commanding, every angle of his face carved to perfection.
He walked toward her. Lacey smiled sweetly and said, “Mr. Vale.”
