Chapter 94 Assigned to Him Again?
Finishe
Dorian stood just outside the door, leaning against the wall. He lit a cigarette and exhaled slowly. Even whe she had been pushing him away, her body had responded to his kiss.
He’d never thought he’d end up like this–desperate to touch her, desperate to feel her again. He wanted to claim every part of her.
He looked up at her window. Her light was still on. He watched it from his car, engine off, window lowered.
Only when her room finally went dark did he drive away. When he returned to Silverbay Villa, the emptiness hit him full–force. Everything she had touched was still in place.
A half–read book, bookmarked and face–down on the table. A mug still half full on the side table. A hair tie on the armrest. He stared at the space, rage and regret surging.
Without a word, he went upstairs to take a cold shower. The next morning, Arden’s eyes were a little swollen. She hadn’t slept well. To hide the dark circles, she put on a light layer of makeup.
As soon as she arrived at the office, Warren called her in. “Morning, Warren,” she greeted.
“Morning,” he said. “Mr. Vale is heading to Zevia for a business trip. He wants a sharp, detail–oriented femal assistant to accompany him. You’re going.”
That woke her right up.
“What?” Arden blinked. “Me? As Mr. Vale’s assistant?”
She pointed at herself in disbelief. They had just argued last night. Now she was expected to follow him on business trip?
“He requested you by name,” Warren confirmed.
Arden nearly choked. “Warren, there are, what, ten assistants in
a secretary. I’ve got project work with Sienna–medical tech up and get him angry?”
the executive office? Why me? I’m not even and electric vehicles. What if I mess something
Warren looked at her, clearly puzzled. Being chosen to accompany the CEO was a dream for most women in the company. But Arden looked like she’d just been sentenced.
He smiled. “Mr. Vale asked for you. That’s a good sign. Means he’s impressed. Think of it as an honor. Represent our department well.”
Honor, my ass, Arden thought. That man was the devil.
She tried one more time. “Warren, I’ve only been here a few days. I barely know Mr. Vale. What if I say something wrong? It could reflect badly on the team.”
She gestured toward the other women. “Bonnie or Alina would do great. I’m sure they’d be happy to go.”
But Warren wasn’t budging. If Dorian wanted her, then that was it. “You’re young, energetic, and a fresh face,” he said. “Perfect.”

Chapter 94 Assigned to Him Again?
Arden was speechless.
When she tried to argue again, Warren waved her off. “Pack up. You’re leaving this afternoon.”
She walked out of his office looking utterly defeated. Talia rushed over. “What happened? Did he scold you?”
“No. He’s sending me to Zevia with Mr. Vale,” she muttered.
“For real?” Talia gasped. “Just you? What about Sienna?”
“I’m not going,” Sienna said coolly from her desk. “I’m not trying to die.”
“Wait,” Talia said. “I thought you and Sienna were going together for project meetings?” The boss looked like the kind of guy you don’t want to mess with. Thank God he didn’t ask her to come along. Self–preservation comes first.
“Nope. I don’t know what kind of mood Mr. Vale is in, but he asked for me specifically.”
Clark leaned in. “Maybe it’s because we saw him yesterday with that girl at the café. Maybe he thinks we overheard something, and now he’s punishing you. You do look like the easiest one to pick on, innocent and all.”
Sienna and Talia nodded in agreement. “That tracks.”
They patted her shoulder. Talia looked mournful. “You didn’t say anything, but now you’re the one going to the guillotine. Arden, stay alive. Don’t poke the beast.”
Arden sighed. Her whole morning was ruined. Part of her wanted to storm into his office and demand an explanation.
But another part of her didn’t want to be alone with him again. Not after last night.
