Chapter 7
The next afternoon, I drove to the studio.
At a relatively quiet intersection, a van suddenly accelerated from the side and slammed into me.
“CRASH–1”
The deafening sound of impact and shattering glass filled my ears.
Everything spun. I felt something warm trickling down from my temple.
An accident? No. The timing was too convenient.
I immediately called Sophia to report it to the police and had her check Julian and Chloe’s whereabouts.
Results? Exactly what I expected.
Julian was throwing a fit at the office–perfect alibi.
Chloe had checked into the hospital to “protect the baby” because “online harassment destabilized her emotions.”
In the hospital room, my mother gripped my hand, tears streaming down her face.
“Amelia, just let it go… I’m scared…”
I looked at my parents‘ worried faces and Sophia’s grave expression. I shook my head, my voice hoarse but steady.
“I can’t. Backing down will only make them more reckless.”
I turned to Sophia.
“Leak the car crash and Julian’s threatening phone call to the most influential media outlets. Anonymously. Title it: **‘Elite Family Feud Escalates: Cheating Husband Suspected of Hiring Hitman, Wife Survives Near–Death Attack.”
I was going to drag their vile actions into the light.
The “public opinion nuke” was devastating.
The public’s fury ignited completely. All those previous attempts to whitewash the affair as “true love“? Now a joke.
Pressure on the police skyrocketed. They formed a special task force to investigate both the car crash and the financial crimes together.
Under mountains of evidence and intense public pressure, the hit–and–run driver was quickly apprehended.
He cracked under interrogation and gave up the person behind it–Julian’s cousin.

The cousin, in turn, immediately ratted out Julian. He provided key recordings proving Julian had instructed him to teach Amelia Sterling a lesson she’d never forget” and promised a hefty reward plus an escape route afterward.
Meanwhile, Sophia’s legal team tore through everything like a wrecking ball.
The fraudulent betting agreement? Voided.
All the assets Julian transferred to Chloe’s name? Recovered and frozen.
The charges against him–embezzlement, misappropriation of funds–ironclad evidence.
A month after the engagement party disaster, it was finally over.
“Julian Blackwood, you are under arrest for embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, and conspiracy to commit assault.”
Chloe’s ending was just as ironic.
While she was hospitalized “protecting the baby,” police investigating the financial crimes thoroughly examined her accounts and her so–called “studio.”
Under immense pressure and relentless questioning, she had an emotional breakdown.
She lost the baby.
Even more dramatic? After her miscarriage, Julian’s mother rushed to the hospital–not to comfort her.
“The doctor said the baby was doing great! How could you lose it?!”
“Did you even have a baby? Or did you lie to us this whole time?”
The girl they once called “such a lovely girl” and “the Blackwood family’s hope” became worthless the second she lost the “grandson.”
The Blackwoods abandoned her at the hospital. Never looked back.
