Ex Wife's Collapse After Divorce novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65

“Bad attitude?” Ethan asked in disbelief.

Travis looked down. “Nathan said I wasn’t a team player. Said I didn’t respect authority.”

Ethan’s jaw tightened until his teeth ached. He knew exactly what that meant.

Nathan could come after him all day. That was the game. But going after an intern, a hardworking kid who’d done nothing wrong except be seen with Ethan, a young man harboring dreams who could have easily enjoyed a life of leisure, yet insisted on working simply to bravely shoulder the responsibilities he believes he should bear??

That went too far, and Nathan must pay the price for this!

He placed a hand on Travis’s shoulder, his voice dangerously low. “Today, no one is firing you. Put the box down. We’re going to my office.”

Travis’s eyes went wide. “But Nathan said-”

“Nathan is a shameless coward. He can’t touch me, so he’s taking it out on you. I don’t care what he said.

They had barely stepped into the open office area when a man moved in front of them and blocked the

way.

“Well, well. Look who’s back.”

Ethan recognized the man immediately-a smirking weasel who always laughes at every shitty joke Nathan made. His employee badge read: Marketing Department: Caleb Munro.

“Travis.” Caleb folded his arms. “You’ve been terminated. Department policy-no outsiders in the office.

area. Turn around.”

Travis flinched. His grip on the cardboard box tightened.

Ethan stepped forward. “I invited him in.”

“Doesn’t matter.” Caleb’s grin widened. “Rules are rules, Deputy Manager.” He said the title like it was a joke. “Outsiders don’t enter.”

Ethan narrowed his eyes. “Move.”

“No.” Caleb’s eyes glittered. “But let me explain something, since you’re new here. This kid? He’s useless. Can’t do the work, won’t follow instructions, fights with senior staff. The kind of waste that should’ve been cut months ago. Nathan did the department a favor.”

Travis jerked like someone had kicked him.

“I’m not trash!” His voice cracked, then rose. “I’ve been doing my work. I’ve been doing other people’s work too. I never messed anything up. I haven’t left before nine once in the last half month. Not once!”

“I already got the verbal offer. Before today, everyone appreciated my hard work.” His breath hitched.” How can you suddenly call me useless? It’s not fair!”

Caleb snorted. Clearly, Travis’s pain and anger only added to his amusement.

“I call you useless because you are useless.” His eyes turned cold, “Now know your place, loser!”

Suddenly, in the next instant, Caleb’s hand, which had been hanging at his side, flew up and struck Travis brutally across the face!

A sharp crack split the office.

Ethan was stunned. He never expected Caleb to actually dare to lay a hand on someone right under his

nose!

Travis’s head snapped to the side. The cardboard box tumbled from his arms and crashed onto the floor,

its contents scattering everywhere.

For one second, everything went dead quiet.

Then Travis exploded.

He shoved the box down and lunged forward, eyes red, fists clenched, ready to hit back!
