Ex Wife's Collapse After Divorce novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66

His palm connected with Caleb’s cheek so hard the man’s head snapped sideways. The sound was louder than the first slap. Sharper.

Caleb staggered into a desk. His hand flew to his face. His eyes went wide with genuine, uncomprehending shock.

“You-”

Ethan looked at him like he was filth on the floor. “A piece of garbage like you thinks I should care about

staying friendly with you?”

Caleb’s expression turned from stunned to furious in a blink. “How dare you hit me in public? You don’t

deserve to be vice director!”

Ethan’s mouth curved in a cold smile.

“And you just slapped an intern in public,” he said. “By your standard, you don’t deserve to work in this company at all.”

Caleb’s throat worked. He tried to speak.

Ethan didn’t give him the chance.

“You’re fired. Right now. Workplace bullying. Pack your things and get out!”

Caleb went white. For the first time, real fear broke through his anger.

“You can’t fire me. Nathan brought me in personally. You don’t have that authority.”

“I do,” Ethan said flatly. “I’m the vice director. I have every right to remove a rotten employee with a bad heart and worse conduct. I’ll go to HR myself in a minute and finish the process.”

Caleb’s lips trembled. “You’re abusing your power.”

“If you have a problem with it, file a complaint.” Ethan took one step closer, and Caleb instinctively took one back. “Instead of barking at me, you’d better start thinking about what you’re going to do next.”

The office had gone so quiet that every breath sounded obvious.

Caleb looked around, maybe hoping someone would back him up.

No one moved.

He clenched his jaw, shot Travis one vicious glare, then spun around and stormed back into the

department.

Ethan didn’t bother stopping him.

He bent down, picked up the fallen plant, set it back in the box, then looked at Travis.

“Bring that We’re done talking out here.”

In his office, Ethan learned what had just transpired.

As soon as Travis stepped into the office today, Caleb had cornered him, dumping the workloads of all the other interns onto him and demanding they be completed before noon.

This was clearly a deliberate attempt to set Travis up to fail. Unable to stomach the injustice, Travis had stood up and argued with Caleb. In retaliation, Caleb immediately ratted him out to Nathan, claiming Travis had a poor work attitude.

Without even bothering to look into the situation, Nathan had summarily dismissed Travis on the spot.

Hearing this, Ethan’s face darkened. But the moment he looked up at Travis, his expression softened, leaving only a reassuring smile on his face.

“Don’t worry, I’ll handle this. For now, just head back to your workstation and go about your day as usual.”

Travis froze for a moment. “But… sir, I’ve already been fired…” His cheeks flushed red with

embarrassment.
