Chapter 67
Ethan leaned back in his chair and looked at Nathan without blinking.
“Nathan, are you questioning my decision?”
Nathan’s face tightened at once, but he still stood there with his chin raised, Caleb at his side like a snarling little shadow.
“I’m questioning your abuse of authority,” Nathan shot back. “You fired my team member for no reason. That is not how this department works.”
Caleb immediately jumped in. “Exactly. Deputy Manager, you can’t just throw people out because you
don’t like them.”
Ethan’s gaze slid over Caleb’s swollen cheek and returned to Nathan.
“No reason?” he asked coldly. “Your man slapped an intern in front of half the office. You call that no
reason?”
Nathan’s expression changed for a second, but he forced himself to stay hard.
“And what about yesterday?” he snapped. “You dumped a mountain of work on me. That workload was insane. Even if I stayed up all night, I couldn’t finish it. What was that if not deliberate sabotage?”
The air in the office turned sharp.
Ethan’s eyes went cold. Then he suddenly slammed his palm on the desk.
Bang!
Both Nathan and Caleb jolted.
Ethan’s voice came down like a knife. “You knew the workload was too much?”
Nathan’s jaw twitched.
“Then why didn’t you think about that yesterday when you dumped all the messy sorting work onto Travis alone?” Ethan asked. “A single intern. One kid. You had no problem crushing him, but now that the pressure lands on your own head, you start crying about fairness?”
Nathan opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
Ethan didn’t stop.
“I already told you. If you couldn’t finish the work, then you could collect your pay and get out.” His eyes were full of contempt. “Did you think I was joking?”
Nathan’s face flushed red. He clenched his fists so hard the veins stood out on the back of his hands.
“Deputy Manager, don’t push it too far,” he ground out. “I’ve been with this company for three years.

Three years. I’ve contributed more than you even understand. If you treat old employees like this, you’ll freeze everyone’s heart.”
Ethan gave a short, mocking laugh.
“You only speak for yourself. Don’t drag the entire department into your mess.
Ethan’s tone grew even colder. “And since you want to talk about company rules, let’s be precise. You fired Travis over a so-called bad attitude. Fine. Then by that same logic, your attitude toward me right. now is more than enough reason to fire you too.”
Nathan froze.
Caleb’s eyes widened. .
Ethan looked straight at Nathan and delivered the sentence without the slightest hesitation.
“You’re fired.”
For one second, Nathan looked as if he had not heard correctly. Then his face twisted. “You can’t do that!”
“I just did.”
“I’m a team leader!”
“And now you’re unemployed.”
Nathan took a step forward. “Ethan, don’t you dare-”
“Get out,” Ethan said.
His voice was not loud, but it cut the room apart.
Nathan actually stopped.
Ethan pointed to the door. “Take your dog with you. Pack your things. Go to finance. If you waste one more second in my office, I’ll have security drag you out in front of everyone.”
Caleb’s face went stiff with humiliation.
Nathan’s chest rose and fell violently. He clearly wanted to explode, but Ethan’s eyes were too calm, too sharp. That calmness hurt more than shouting.
In the end, Nathan turned abruptly and stormed out.
