Supervisor Zedd was caught completely off guard. His train of thought derailed, and for a moment he didn’t know how to respond.

“A company’s products are its foundation.” Iris’s gaze swept across the conference room. “If the product itself is defective, no amount of marketing or promotion can save it.”

She paused.

“If any of you think this is a minor issue, you’re welcome to collect your final paycheck alongside Director Smith.”

No one spoke.

The situation had changed too quickly.

No one was eager to lose their job.

“If there’s nothing else, this meeting is adjourned.”

Picking up the lip gloss samples that had failed the heavy-metal test, Iris tossed them directly into the conference room trash can and walked out.

Bella immediately followed.

“Supervisor Zedd, what do we do now?”

Several employees looked uneasily between Zedd and Director Smith.

Staring at the direction Iris had left, Zedd’s expression gradually darkened.

“Let her enjoy herself while she can.” His voice turned cold. “We’ll wait until Mr. Nick returns from his business trip.”

When Iris returned to her office, she discovered a mountain of files piled on her desk.

“President Zero, these are the company’s business records from the past several years.” Bella smiled proudly. “I requested them from the archives and organized everything. Once you finish reviewing them, you’ll have a detailed understanding of the company.”

Iris picked up one of the folders and flipped through several pages.

Everything had been categorized neatly and efficiently.

“Well done, Bella.”

Bella was still young herself. She had been trying to maintain a professional expression, but after receiving praise, she couldn’t stop herself from grinning.

“Thank you, President Zero!”

Richard had specifically selected one of the most capable young female employees at Noir Group to assist his daughter.

He figured it would make communication easier.

As far as he was concerned, Iris’s comfort mattered more than anything else.

The entire afternoon disappeared in a blur.

Iris buried herself in company reports and spent time reviewing Venus Cosmetics’ official website.

The more she learned, the worse the situation looked.

The company could only be described with one phrase:

A complete mess.

Their cosmetics lagged behind competitors in quality.

Their marketing strategies were outdated.

Their packaging designs lacked appeal.

Even the hosts running the company’s livestream sales channels struggled with basic makeup application.

Combined with the lazy workplace culture and several incompetent managers protecting one another…

Iris sighed.

Opening a blank document, she began compiling every issue into a comprehensive restructuring plan.

Before she realized it, the entire day had passed.

After finishing the report, she stretched and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows to clear her mind.

That’s when she spotted a familiar SUV parked below.

Putting on her coat and grabbing her bag, she headed downstairs.

The moment the lights in the CEO’s office went dark, Ares Barclay stepped out of his vehicle.

He watched as Iris emerged from the building.

Her long hair flowed over her shoulders in soft waves.

An elegant white iris brooch decorated the collar of her blouse, catching the warm glow of the setting sun.

For a moment, she looked almost ethereal.

Like an angel walking toward him.

“Why are you here?”

Ares smiled. “To pick up my fiancée from work.”

He placed a beautifully wrapped gift box into her hands.

The box was small and delicate, clearly designed for jewelry.

There wasn’t a single brand logo on it.

“Open it.”

Iris lifted the lid.

Inside rested a diamond necklace.

She recognized it instantly.

It was a masterpiece designed by the internationally renowned designer Lyra.

The starting bid had been twenty million.

Just one week earlier, it had sold at auction for sixty million to a mysterious buyer.

The entire design world had been speculating about the buyer’s identity.

She never imagined the necklace would end up in her hands.

“The moment I saw it, I thought it suited you perfectly.”

Ares carefully removed the necklace.

The delicate gold chain supported a pendant shaped like a white hydrangea.

Her favorite flower.

“My parents told you, didn’t they?”

Only Richard and Eleanor knew about her love for white hydrangeas.

Ares had clearly been talking to them again.

Seriously.

Who was their actual child?

“Maybe.” His eyes curved with amusement. “Iris really is smart.”

“The necklace is too expensive. I can’t accept it.”
