Chapter 124 Proposal
:
By the time the park closed, Silvia’s father had finally rushed back from out of town.
He met Iris and the others at the entrance.
Finished
“Thank you so much. I don’t even know your name.” He handed Iris a business card. “If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me. And your name is…?”
Just as Iris was about to answer, her eyes landed on the card.
Venus Cosmetics
Yonki Saunders.
She deliberately left out her last name and gave the first name.
“Iris.”
“Thank you so much, Miss Iris, for everything you did today!” Yonki smiled apologetically. “I had no idea this little troublemaker had a mind of her own. She skipped her tutoring class and came here by herself. I’m so sorry she caused you all so much trouble.”
He crouched down and pulled Silvia Saunders into his arms. His expression was equal parts heartbroken and frustrated.
“Didn’t Daddy tell you not to run off by yourself? Why didn’t you tell Grandpa and Grandma where you were going? Do you know how worried they were?”
Silvia’s eyes immediately reddened.
“You promised you’d come to my parent-teacher meeting… but you never came back! They used to make fun of me because I don’t have a mom. Now they’re saying I’m an orphan! I don’t want to talk to you anymore!”
Every word pierced Yonki’s heart. His voice softened immediately.
“I’m sorry. My business trips are finally over for this year. I’ll be back working here starting next week. Then I’ll spend lots of time with you, okay?”
“Really?”
“Really. I promise.”
Only then did Silvia’s anger subside, though she still pouted stubbornly.

Chapter 124 Proposal
After thanking Iris once more, the father and daughter left together.
After taking Emma home, Iris returned to the Noir residence in the family driver’s car.
The weekend passed in the blink of an eye.
Finished
Monday morning, as Iris was walking toward her office, Jess accidentally bumped into her.
The stack of documents in Jess’s arms scattered across the floor. She hurriedly crouched down to pick them up.
“I’m so sorry, President Zero! I didn’t mean to!”
As Iris helped gather the papers, one document immediately caught her attention.
Its title was printed in bold across the front:
Product Development Proposal
Jess’s eyes were red, and her voice sounded stuffy, as though she’d been crying.
Remembering the phone conversation she’d overheard at the supermarket, Iris had a pretty good idea what was going on.
She knelt down to help collect the documents.
Jess was startled. “No, no, President Zero! I can do it myself!”
“It’s fine.”
While helping organize the papers, Iris quietly slipped the proposal out of the pile.
Making sure Jess didn’t notice, she swiftly tucked it into the stack Bella was holding.
Bella had crouched down to help as well.
Suddenly finding an extra proposal in her hands, she looked confused.
Then Iris gave her a subtle wink.
Bella wisely kept quiet.
Jess looked exhausted.
Bella couldn’t help asking,
“Are you okay? If you’re not feeling well, maybe you should take the day off and rest.”

Jess sniffled. Clutching the documents tightly against her chest, she forced a smile.
“I’m fine, Bella. I just received some bad news.”
After Jess left, Bella followed Iris into the president’s office.
Before Iris even spoke, Bella began her
report.
“I investigated Supervisor Zedd. He’s been abusing his position to harass female employees. If they don’t want to be harassed, they have to buy him gifts.”
“And if they refuse both the harassment and the gifts, he has his people isolate them. Jess was transferred out of the R&D Department into Administration because of him.”
“The most unbelievable part is that even the women he harassed-and the ones who gave him gifts-joined in bullying Jess.”
Iris nodded. None of it surprised her.
“People who choose to surrender can never stand seeing someone who refuses to surrender doing well. Bullying her is simply how they vent their own pressure and dissatisfaction.”
