Already upset to begin with, Jess finally snapped after Wina’s taunts.

“I swear, I never copied your proposal.” Wina flashed a smug smile. “Your problem is that you’re too rigid. Sometimes you have to get burned before you learn how the real world works.”

Jess’s fingertips trembled with anger.

Her family wasn’t wealthy.

Her mother was still sick.

There was no way she could afford the expensive gifts Supervisor Zedd demanded.

And she certainly wasn’t about to let that sleazy old man pressure her into sleeping with him.

As a result, she’d been targeted almost as soon as she’d joined the company.

She’d learned almost nothing, been pushed from department to department, and if she quit now, she’d never find another job with benefits this good.

She didn’t want her mother to worry.

So she’d endured it all in silence.

“I saw you. You took my proposal to Supervisor Lilian. You presented my ideas as if they were yours!”

Wina feigned innocence. “I never photographed your proposal. You’re making things up.”

“My relationship with Director Smith has always been good. She helped guide me through this proposal. So why couldn’t you have copied me?”

“If you think you’ve been wronged…” She smiled mockingly. “Go tell that new CEO. See if she stands up for you.”

Jess had no evidence. She hadn’t dared tell Iris.

She’d reported problems to the previous president before.

Back then, however, he had never cared about Venus.

He’d casually promised to deal with it… and then done absolutely nothing.

Worse still, after reporting it, Jess’s life at the company had only become more miserable.

She was terrified history would repeat itself.

At that moment, Bella stepped out of the president’s office.

“Jess. Wina.”

“President Zero wants both of you in the conference room in five minutes.”

She noticed the tense atmosphere between them but said nothing.

Wina immediately put on a sweet smile.

“Bella, would you like some snacks? Do you know why President Zero wants to see us?”

“You’ll find out soon enough.” Bella ignored the snacks, kept a straight face, and walked away.

Five minutes later…

The conference room.

Iris sat at the head of the table.

Bella was setting up the presentation equipment.

Several members of the R&D Department sat beside Lilian Summer.

Across from them sat Mr. Nick, Supervisor Zedd, and the managers from several other departments.

Looking around the room, Wina felt her heart skip a beat.

“Surely they haven’t found out… Impossible.’

Supervisor Zedd had secretly photographed Jess’s proposal while the office was empty.

He’d then ordered Wina to produce an almost identical version, and Director Smith had even polished the wording herself.

Every single person involved belonged to their side.

None of them would betray them for Iris.

Wina had never taken the new president seriously. She looked like a college student.
