Chapter 153 A Good Judge Of Character
Dinner at the Noir residence was unusually lavish.
After hearing from both Vincent and Iris that they’d be home on time, Eleanor had immediately instructed the kitchen to prepare all their favorite dishes.

Iris hadn’t driven back with Vincent. Remembering that her eldest brother was returning today, she stopped at a nearby boutique and picked out a pair of cuff links as a welcome–home gift.
Meanwhile, Vincent’s train of thought wasn’t much different. As he passed a shopping mall, another idea suddenly occurred to him.
‘What if my little sister likes desserts?‘
Half an hour later…
The two of them arrived at the front door of the Noir residence carrying shopping bags.
They looked at each other.
Neither spoke.
Iris was the first to break the silence. “I’m home.”
Vincent pressed his lips together.
“So am I.”
A few minutes later, Eleanor had one of them by each hand and practically dragged them onto the living room sofa.
“You two really are siblings. You even came home one right after the other.”
She happily introduced them.
“Iris, this is your eldest brother, Vincent.”
“Vincent, this is your little sister, Iris.”
Looking back and forth between them, Eleanor frowned. “Why do you both look so strange?”
This wasn’t how she’d imagined their first meeting at all.
Sitting off to one side, Chloe assumed Vincent simply hadn’t accepted Iris yet. She spoke up gently,

“Maybe Vincent and Iris just need some time to process everything. Mom, don’t them.”
pressure
That made perfect sense. Her proud, demanding eldest brother couldn’t possibly accept Iris that quickly.
Eleanor nodded thoughtfully, then reached out and poked Vincent lightly in the arm.
“You’re not allowed to bully Iris.”
Vincent let out a helpless laugh. “That’s not what this is. It’s just… the coincidence caught me off guard. We’ve actually met before. Once in Lystra, and again in Nevaris.”
“When was that?” Eleanor asked.
Iris answered simply. “When I was in Lystra, my brother gave me a ride once. Then he helped me again in Nevaris.”
Vincent’s expression stiffened ever so slightly. That was the first time he’d ever heard highway robbery described as getting a ride.
Completely oblivious, Eleanor beamed. “See? You two were destined to meet! Iris only came home recently, so you’d better take good care of your little sister.”
“I will,” Vincent promised.
“Actually,” Eleanor continued, “out of all your brothers, he’s the one who looked forward to meeting you the most.”
“Your second and third brothers were still little back then, but Vincent kept talking about his baby sister from the moment I was pregnant.”
“When you disappeared, he blamed himself for a very long time.”
Vincent cleared his throat awkwardly. He wasn’t used to his childhood being brought up like this.
“Ahem.” He quickly changed the subject. “Iris, would you like to see your presents? The staff has already separated everyone’s gifts and taken them to your rooms.”
He rose to his feet before Eleanor could reveal any more embarrassing childhood stories.
Iris followed him upstairs.
Chloe happily skipped upstairs as well.

Firushed
Before Vincent had returned from overseas, she’d reminded him several times that she wanted a custom designer bracelet from a luxury brand that was impossible to buy domestically.
He had to have remembered.
As she reached her own bedroom door, however, she suddenly changed direction for no apparent reason. Instead, she quietly wandered over to Iris’s room. She wanted to see what kind of gift Richard had prepared for her.
Iris pushed open her bedroom door.
Only then did she truly understand what Vincent had meant when he’d said…
“I bought everything in the catalog.”
There were presents everywhere.
Boxes covered the tables.
The overflow had been neatly stacked across the floor until there was barely any space left to walk.
Some packages were beautifully wrapped, clearly containing jewelry and clothing.
Others were too large to wrap and had simply been brought back in their original packaging.
Her bedroom looked less like a bedroom…
And more like Santa Claus’s gift warehouse.
After a long silence, Iris looked up at her eldest brother, whose lips had curled into an unmistakably pleased smile.
“Big Brother… I can’t even get into my room.”
Vincent let out a quiet laugh.
Behind them, Chloe walked over as well.
The moment she saw the mountain of gifts filling Iris’s room, she froze.
Her expression changed instantly.
‘Why? Why did Vincent buy her so many presents?‘

At his instruction, several servants came in to move the overflowing gifts elsewhere.
Watching the shopping bags from one luxury brand after another disappear from Iris’s room, Chloe felt as though her heart were bleeding.
