Chapter 167 Not On Good Terms
Olivia didn’t even notice the look on William’s face.
All she wanted was to find a comfortable place to spend the night.

There were far too many mosquitoes buzzing around, making her increasingly irritable. On top of that, William had just come out carrying the delicious aroma of dinner with him, making her even hungrier.
Though annoyed by her attitude, William patiently explained,
“Miss, this is a private residence. We don’t allow overnight guests. I see your car is parked over there. If you drive a little farther in that direction, you’ll reach a nearby village.”
Mr. Ashcroft treasured his peace and quiet. After dealing with a few particularly unreasonable visitors in the past, he’d simply made it a firm rule–no passing travelers were allowed to stay.
Besides, Willow Village wasn’t far away. Most people came by car anyway, so safety wasn’t an issue.
Olivia frowned.
‘The place is huge. What’s the big deal about letting us stay one night? Do they think I can’t afford it?’
She pulled a bank card from her purse and tossed it at William.
“I’ll pay. Charge whatever you want. We’re only staying one night. Two rooms. And have dinner sent up to them.”
William looked down at the card in his hand, his expression complicated.
‘Does she not understand plain English?‘
“I’m telling you, outsiders aren’t allowed to stay here. That’s my teacher’s rule. Please leave.”
He handed the card back without even glancing at it.

Olivia was furious. She’d been treated badly enough in Capital City. Now even in tiny Ashford County someone dared treat her this way? She was the daughter of the richest family in Kingsley.
“Do you even know who I am? Haven’t you heard of the richest family in Kingsley? If you offend me, none of you will be able to hold your heads up anywhere in Ashford County!”
William rolled his eyes. “I’ve heard of them. So what?”
What did that have to do with them?
Their intangible cultural heritage project was funded directly by the Kingsley municipal government. Even this residence had been secured for Mr. Ashcroft through Mayor Vaughn’s application to higher authorities.
Olivia was left speechless by those two casual words.
Just as she turned to leave in frustration, she caught sight of two familiar figures walking in the courtyard behind him.
They were too far away to see clearly.
But she recognized their clothes immediately.
Iris Noir.
And that man of hers.
She instantly lost her composure.
Pointing past William, she demanded,
“Why are they here too? Is this the Noir family’s house?”
Too lazy to deal with someone he now considered unhinged, William reached for the door.
Before he could close it, Olivia quickly jammed her hand into the gap.
Afraid she’d actually get hurt, he immediately let go.
“Are you crazy? This door’s made of reinforced hardwood. If it slammed on your

arm, you could break it!” He was completely at a loss. “What Noir family? What are you talking about? The owner of this place is Mr. Ashcroft.”
Mr. Ashcroft?
“Then they’re outsiders too! Why are they allowed to stay?” She pointed angrily toward Iris and Ares.
Noticing that William hadn’t returned for quite some time, Mr. Ashcroft had asked Iris and Ares to check on him.
“He looks like someone’s bothering him.” Ares gestured toward the entrance. “Should we go over?”
Iris couldn’t make out Olivia’s face from that distance.
Assuming it was simply a passerby, she shook her head.
“No, he can handle something this minor himself. Let’s go back and eat.”
William glanced over his shoulder. “They’re family. My teacher invited them personally. They can stay as long as they like.”
Olivia didn’t believe a word of it. “Did Iris and that man tell you to say that?”
Just then, Vanessa finished parking the car and hurried over.
Seeing Olivia still standing outside the gate, her face flushed with immediately rushed to her side.

“What happened, Olivia?”
“He won’t let us in. I think… I think it’s because of my sister. They’re both inside…”
Vanessa followed the direction she pointed. The instant she recognized Iris, her temper exploded.
“Iris Noir! What exactly do you mean by this?”
Iris had almost stepped back inside when the familiar voice made her stop.
‘No wonder William had been gone so long.‘

William blinked and turned toward her. “Senior Sister… you know them?”
She’d just helped him out of a terrible situation.

If he’d accidentally turned away her friends… that would have been awkward.
“We know each other, but we’re not on good terms.”
We’re not on good terms.
