“If you’re tired, get some sleep.” Iris glanced at him. “After your exams are over, I’ll take you to Capital City to visit your mom.”

Noah turned toward her. “Did my mom make an enemy of someone?”

Iris didn’t bother hiding the truth.

“Possibly. But we haven’t confirmed anything yet.”

She stood up and walked into the stairwell before calling Zane.

“What did they say? If they’re useless, hand them over to the police.”

Back at the restaurant, Zane had already tied the men together with rope to keep them from escaping.

He glanced at them before moving farther away to talk.

“Boss, sending them to the police probably won’t accomplish much.”

“I talked to them. They claim someone powerful protects them in Kingsley. Even if they get arrested, they’ll be bailed out immediately.”

He paused.

His gaze shifted toward James.

“The guy called James seems a little unstable. He fights harder than the others. Doesn’t care about getting hurt. And his temper is way worse.”
