The interview even included several “direct quotes” that sounded unbelievably harsh.

:

Eleanor’s face turned pale.

“This… this can’t be real! Iris would never say something like this!”

Richard’s expression also turned icy. “This interview has been tampered with.”

Iris quietly took the newspaper and read it from beginning to end.

Then she smiled.

Not because it was funny.

Because the fabrication was almost laughably clumsy.

The reporter had kept less than twenty percent of what she’d actually said.

Everything else had been rewritten, twisted, and stitched together into something completely different.

Even the order of her answers had been rearranged to change their meaning.

The person behind this wasn’t simply chasing clicks.

They wanted to destroy her reputation.

Just then, her phone buzzed.

It was from Principal Wade.

Iris lowered her eyes.

A recording…

Fortunately….

She had one.

Iris remembered that interview.

She had only agreed to it because the handwritten letter had been so sincere. The reporter genuinely seemed to care about helping students, and that was the only reason she’d accepted. Even then, sh one condition, the interview could only be published in written form.

On the day of the interview, they met at a coffee shop.

Across from her sat a young intern with a ponytail. The questions were perfectly normal, the entire conversation was polite, and the reporter had even brought her a specialty gift from her hometown.

A specialty from Kingsley?

Yet now. Iris stared at the article in front of her, its contents completely different from everything she had actually said.

“What do you think of Capital Preparatory Academy?‘ Answer: ‘Everything about it is terrible.”

Speechless, Iris rubbed her forehead.

“What I actually said was, ‘Capital Preparatory Academy is excellent in every respect. The schools that constantly brag about being several times better than CPA are the ones that are lacking in every area except marketing.”

The entire family fell silent.

And that was only one example.

There were countless other statements that had been altered as well.

Originally, Iris’s responses had been thoughtful, confident, and perfectly appropriate.

But in the published version, she came across as a mean–spirited, arrogant student who thought she knew everything.

“This isn’t taking things out of context anymore,” Richard said angrily. “They completely made everything up!”

He slammed the newspaper onto the table and stood up, already reaching for his phone.

“What kind of trash newspaper is this? How dare they treat my daughter like this!”

As Iris looked at the photo on Vincent’s phone, a thought suddenly occurred to her.

She stopped Richard before he could make the call.

“It’s okay, Dad. You don’t need to get involved.”

Richard’s face softened with concern.

:

“Iris, you don’t have to be so strong all the time. Your mother and I are here so you have someone to rely on Don’t worry–we’ll take care of this.”

I’m not trying to be strong, Dad.” She smiled. “Trust me. I can handle this myself, and I can handle it well

Vivent inmediately understood what she meant and helped stop their father.

“Dad. Iris has her own plan. Let’s stay out of it for now. If she needs help, she’ll tell us herself. Rig

Iris nodded obediently.

Only then did Richard reluctantly calm down and sit back in his chair.

“Fine. But let’s make a deal. If this isn’t resolved within three days, your brother and I are steppingn.”

Truthfully, part of him hoped she wouldn’t be able to solve it on her own so she’d come to them help.

“No problem, Iris replied. “It won’t even take three days.”

She saved the image to her phone.

I’m heading back to my room.”

After this incident, nobody had much of an appetite. One by one, they left the dining room and returned to their rooms.

Only Chloe remained seated. She happily picked up her favorite dish and took a bite, her foot swinging beneath the table.

“Delicious…” she murmured contentedly. “Good food really does improve your mood.”

Her gaze drifted toward the direction Iris had left. her meaning obvious.

Back in her room, Iris was about to search for the reporter’s contact when she discovered that her phone was flooded with messages.

Zane: [Boss… even though this was obviously malicious editing, I can’t deny that those comments sound weirdly believable coming from you.]

He knew Iris could handle herself, so he wasn’t particularly worried.

Ares: [Do you need my help?]

Julie Young:[Good grief! What exactly have you been saying this time?]

Stella:[Iris, want me to hack their newspaper’s system? I’ve been learning some new tricks!]

There were plenty more messages after that.

Relying on memory, Iris searched for the reporter’s name and found the contact from the interview,

Just as she expected.

Now that was interesting

[Help me with something.]

“This is the age of videos. You can just write whatever you want in an article. How does anyone know it’s true?”

That’s actually a good point. There’s literally no evidence. The so–called genius student doesn’t even have a photo. Why should anyone believe this?”
