The pounding on the door was frantic. Before Iris could react, the door was violently forced open from the outside.
Rupert burst into the apartment, followed by two men who looked like reporters. One of them cared a camera and wore a black cap and a black face mask.
“What… what happened here?”
The moment Rupert rushed inside and saw the scene before him, he froze in shock.
“Why is there blood everywhere? Where’s Mr. Han?”
After entering, Rupert quickly circled the living room before leading the others toward the bedroom.
Iris had only just brushed her fingers against the wall when the three men stormed in.
“The Noir family’s daughter?”
Rupert had only met Iris once before, and confusion filled his face.
“Do you know Mr. Han?”
Before Iris could answer, Rupert suddenly spotted the man lying by the window.
“Mr. Han!”
The other two men immediately rushed over.
Rupert remained by the doorway, seemingly afraid Iris might escape, deliberately positioning himself to block her path.
“What happened here? Why are you here?”
Unfazed, Iris replied with a question of her own.
“Why are you here? Weren’t you supposed to be locked up by the Young family?”
“I..”
Rupert hadn’t expected the counterquestion and stumbled over his words.
“I–I wasn’t locked up! Once I explained everything, they let me go. I came here today for an interview!”
Rupert didn’t work for the Young family business. He was the editor–in–chief of a news agency.
“Mr. Young! Mr. Han isn’t breathing!”

The man known as Mr. Han lay motionless on the floor. Multiple knife wounds covered his body me still bleeding. His lips were pale, and he showed no signs of movement as the others handled him.
“This interview was supposed to be straightforward, and now it’s turned into this…”
The reporter sighed and glanced back at the cameraman.
“Take a few photos of the room first. At least we’ll have something to submit. This is explosive news.”
Though he claimed to be photographing the crime scene, the cameraman pointed the lens directly at fris.
Rupert turned and stared at her.
“Miss Noir… did you kill him?”
Instead of avoiding the camera, Iris stepped forward.

Click.
She snapped the lens cap shut.
His view instantly went black.
“Ah!”
The cameraman let out an involuntary cry.
At the sound of his voice, Iris gave him a meaningful look.
“What are you doing?” Rupert snapped. “These are reporters from the Capital City News Agency! We came specifically to interview Mr. Han! Whatever grudge existed between you two, did you really kill him?”
Seeing Iris continue staring at the cameraman, Rupert immediately stepped between them without a second thought.
“There’s nobody else here, so you-”
The reporter was visibly shaken as well and didn’t dare meet Iris’s gaze.
Rupert continued reciting the lines Steven had instructed him to say beforehand.
“Do you know how difficult it was to secure an interview with Mr. Han? Do you know how valuable this

story was? Now he’s dead because of you. How do you plan to explain this?”
Irignored him completely.
Leaving him to talk to himself, she walked over to Mr. Han’s body and crouched down.
The cameraman hurried after her and deliberately blocked her view.
“Miss, staring directly at the deceased like that is rather disrespectful…”
With her line of sight obstructed, Iris slowly stood.

“The precious daughter of the Noir family turns out to be a murderer. Now that would be a sensational headline. I wonder what Mr. and Mrs. Noir would think when they hear the news?”
“To be honest, I’m drowning in debt. I have no personal grudge against you. I just want money. However you do it, I want one–third of the Noir family’s assets.”
