Chapter 349 Emma Was Poisoned
Chapter 349 Emma Was Poisoned
With both Chloe and Olivia missing at the same time, the coincidence was too glaring to ignore.
Iris walked over to Ares Barclay’s private lounge and took a seat.
“I just got a call,” she said quietly. “Chloe has disappeared.”
Ares frowned. “Your eldest brother’s estate is practically a fortress. How could she suddenly vanish from there?”

Iris shook her head. “I don’t know. Olivia disappeared too. Samuel Sutton has already received the news and is rushing back.”
“The two of them disappearing together…” A faint smile tugged at the corner of Ares’s lips. “This is getting more and more interesting.”
Emma Barclay noticed that both her uncle and Iris looked unusually serious. She quietly shuffled over to Iris, took her hand, and squeezed it gently..
“Sister Iris, don’t worry. Uncle Ares is here.”
Iris smiled softly. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
She reached up, intending to pat Emma’s head, but her gaze suddenly landed on the handkerchief in the little girl’s hand.
Green bamboo was embroidered delicately across the fabric.
After a brief hesitation, Iris asked, “When I came back just now, you didn’t look very well either. Did something happen?”
Ares snapped out of his thoughts. “That handkerchief belonged to my sister. It was her favorite.”
He looked at Emma. “She was Emma’s mother.”
“I searched for it for years. I never imagined it would end up in the United States… or that someone would give it to Emma.”
An eerie silence settled over the lounge.
Iris had long suspected that coming to the United States would uncover a much bigger mystery.
She had thought the answers would reveal themselves quickly.
Instead, each layer only exposed another, making the truth even harder to see.
She casually sent Stella a message.
[Look into Chloe and Olivia.]
Damian was already investigating, but Stella had a much better network back home.
Putting her phone away, Iris looked at Ares. “Let’s head back.”
“All right.”
She turned to Jane. “Jane, let’s call it a day. Contact me if anything comes up.”

Of course, Jane nodded. “Take care. Call me anytime.”
Emma climbed into the car by herself.
Seeing that her uncle and Iris were still talking outside, she absentmindedly played with the handkerchief.
Suddenly, a sharp sting pricked her finger.
It vanished almost instantly.
She carefully searched the handkerchief but couldn’t find anything sharp hidden inside.
Outside the car, Iris spoke quietly..
“Samuel told me something earlier. He said my being switched at birth was orchestrated by Rumi Young.”
“Aunt Rumi?” Ares repeated thoughtfully. “Is she Chloe’s biological mother?”
Iris glanced at him. “Take me back first. My eldest brother’s house must be in complete chaos by now.”
Ares opened the front passenger door.
Emma was already lying across the back seat.
Assuming she had simply fallen asleep after an exhausting day, he started the car and drove toward the Noir residence.
Throughout the drive, Iris silently pieced together everything that had happened since arriving in the United States.
For a fleeting moment, an idea flashed through her mind-
Only to be replaced by even more questions.
Then Ares suddenly spoke. “Iris, I’ve called Emma several times. She isn’t responding.”
Iris spun around immediately.
Emma’s cheeks were flushed pink. Her breathing was slow and steady.

At first glance, she looked like she was sleeping peacefully. But Iris’s years of medical experience told her something was terribly
wrong.
“Keep driving. I’m checking on Emma.”
She unbuckled her seat belt and, with one fluid movement, climbed into the back seat.
Cradling Emma in her arms, she checked her pulse.
Steady.
As her fingers rested against Emma’s wrist, Iris noticed a tiny red puncture mark on her index finger.
The bamboo handkerchief dangled loosely from her little finger, likely shaken loose during the drive.
She looked up. “Did anyone inspect this handkerchief before Emma received it?”

Ares frowned. “I gave it a quick glance, I didn’t notice anything unusual. Emma loved it, so I let her keep it.”

“The problem may be the handkerchief.” Iris’s expression darkened. “Take us to your place. It’ll be easier to deal with this there.”
Without another word, Ares made a sharp U-turn.
The car accelerated violently toward his estate.
Even with the rough ride and sudden turns, Emma remained deeply asleep.
A little over ten minutes later, they arrived at Ares’s estate.
He carried Emma straight to her bedroom.
“Bring me the medical kit.” Iris said. “I need to draw blood. I’ll run the tests myself.”
Ares immediately handed it over. “Here.”
Iris quickly drew a blood sample from Emma and prepared to leave for the lab.
“She shouldn’t be in any immediate danger, but I need the test results.”
Ares stopped her. “You don’t need to go. Come with me.”
