Chapter 371 The Lost Part

“Iris! You finally answered your phone! You scared me to death! What happened?”

The moment the call connected, Stella’s voice exploded through the speaker. She was shouting so loudly that Iris didn’t even need to put the phone on speaker to hear every word.

Iris quietly held the phone a little farther from her ear.

“Calm down. I’m fine.”

Only then did Stella seem to regain her composure.

After a brief pause, she let out a long sigh.

“You nearly gave me a heart attack! You never turn your phone off-not even once in a hundred years. When I couldn’t reach you, I was about ready to bring people over and tear the place apart looking for you.”

Iris rubbed the bridge of her nose.

“I’m really okay.”

“Let’s talk business.”

“Did you find anything from what I asked you to investigate?”

Stella immediately sounded smug.

“When have I ever let you down? Don’t underestimate me.”

Before she could wander completely off topic, Iris cut her off,

“So? What did you find?”

There was a brief silence.

“Iris… according to the information I uncovered, you were in the United States before.”

“You stayed in that underground casino for about a month.”

“Not very long-roughly one month in total.”

Iris frowned. She had absolutely no memory of ever being there. She had never felt as though she’d lost part of her memories.

“Go on.”

“Reliable sources say that once you entered the casino, you didn’t contact anyone during that entire month. When you came back, your personality didn’t change much… but you seemed to distance yourself from everyone.”

Iris fell silent.

Thinking back over her life, everything flowed together seamlessly.

There were no obvious gaps.

No missing pieces.

it was almost impossible to believe.

Yet…

Her body’s reaction whenever she returned to that place couldn’t be explained.

The body didn’t lie.

“I understand. Anything else?”

“That’s all. I couldn’t find anything beyond that.”

“Okay.”

After hanking Stella, Iris ended the call.

She sat quietly, replaying every memory she had from childhood onward.

Nothing.

There wasn’t a single recollection involving the underground casino.

A moment later, she dialed Celeste.

Her answer was even simpler. “I didn’t know you back then. In fact, before we officially met, I’d never even heard of you.”

Iris frowned. “Then why did you give me that jade pendant? You said I’d need it.”

Celeste was silent for several seconds.

“Iris…some things are better left in the past. Whatever happened back then, just let it go.”

Her answer only confirmed Iris’s suspicion. There was clearly something Celeste wasn’t telling her.

“I just want to know the truth,” Iris said quietly. “Please. Just tell me.”

Celeste remained silent for a moment longer before finally sighing.

“Fine. If you insist…”

“When I first met you, you were fifteen.”

Iris blinked.

“Fifteen?”

“Yes.” Celeste gave a faint smile. “You probably don’t remember me. Back then, you were focused on one thing-making money.”

“I was trying to build something of my own, wasn’t I?”

Iris vaguely remembered being overseas at fifteen and being determined to build a business of her own. She had always assumed

that was simply what she had been doing at the time.

“You were,” Celeste said with a sot laugh. “You were incredibly ambitious for someone so young. You came to the underground casino because you needed money, and somehow, you ended up sitting across from me.”

Iris listened quietly.

She had become a billionaire at a young age through her hacking skills, so she had never really thought of herself as someone who had struggled financially. But now that she thought about it, she must have needed an enormous amount of money back then. Running a laboratory alone required a constant supply of funds, not to mention everything else she had been trying to build.

“At the time, I was one of the casino’s most famous gamblers,” Celeste continued. “People came specifically to challenge me.”

“But you beat me.”

“Not only did you beat me, you won an unbelievable amount of money in a single night. By the time the money reached your account, you had practically become a billionaire overnight. The casino, on the other hand, lost so much money that it was on the verge of bankruptcy.”

Iris fell silent.

For some reason, she found it surprisingly easy to believe that her fifteen-year-old self had done something like that.

“What happened afterward?”

Celeste’s expression gradually became serious.
