Chapter 75 Perfect

Olivia moved even closer, a smug smile spreading across her face.

“Last time, you had that man backing you up. You slapped me. Now it’s time to pay back.”

that

She had never forgotten the humiliation she’d suffered at Lee’s Kitchen. Seeing that there was only a single staff member nearby–and one who was clearly on her side–she finally decided to take revenge.

Her hand flew upward, but Iris was faster.

Without warning, Iris reached out and tugged sharply on Olivia’s hair. It wasn’t hard enough to hurt–just enough to loosen one carefully arranged section of her elaborate hairstyle.

After three hours of styling, a single strand coming undone was all it took to ruin the entire look. The elegance of the hairstyle diminished instantly.

“Ah! My hair!”

Olivia hurriedly pulled out a mirror, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t tuck the loose strand back into place. That one strand completely destroyed the hairstyle she’d spent hours perfecting.

Damn it.

While Olivia was still panicking over her hair, Iris carried the coffees backstage.

This year’s Capital City Music Gala had invited musicians from several professional associations, including the Capital City Violin Association. Two of the Association’s senior performers scheduled to appear the following day were regarded as absolute legends in Country A’s violin world.

When Iris entered the Violin Association lounge, everyone was gathered together chatting. Professor Park spotted her immediately.

“Iris!”

“The others turned and brightened in surprise.

Iris set the coffees on the table. “Darius asked me to bring these over. He stepped out to take a call.”

“That brat,” Professor Park said with a laugh. “He’s always buying us coffee. He’s probably hoping we’ll go easy on him during the Association entrance exam.”

He took Iris’s hand and guided her toward the sofa.

“It’s rare enough to see you these days, so stay for a while. We should take some photos and send them to Professor Grant later. Make him jealous.”

Several Association members stole glances at Iris, clearly wanting to talk to her but lacking the courage to approach.

The lounge monitors displayed the stage area outside. Since it wasn’t yet the violin section’s turn, Professor Park happily settled down with Iris to catch up.

Iris pulled a neatly folded sheet of music from her bag and handed it over. After reviewing it carefully, Professor Park’s eyes immediately brightened.

“I knew giving it to you was the right choice. The entire piece feels grander after your revisions.”

He looked genuinely delighted.

“You’re taking the college entrance exams soon, right? The moment you’re done, report to the Association. Then you can finally go on vacation.”

As they talked, the monitors showed staff members gradually clearing the stage area in preparation for rehearsal.

“I remember the opening performer is a violinist too,” one of the Association members said. “Let’s see how good she is. If she’s talented enough, maybe we can invite her to join.”

“What’s her name again?”

think her last name is Sutton.”

The others drifted over to watch the screen.

Backstage, Olivia stared at her phone. Ethan had just messaged her to say that an extra class had come up and he wouldn’t be able to attend.

She secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Thank goodness.

If he had shown up and seen her ruined hairstyle, all her plans would have fallen apart.

In the end, she never managed to fix the loose strand. She simply pinned it back with a random hairpin, and the original elegance of the style was completely gone.

Grace approached while calling her name. The moment she saw Olivia’s extravagant outfit,

she froze.

Had no one told this girl that the actual gala was tomorrow?

“Miss Olivia Sutton, right?” Grace said, pointing toward the stage. “In a moment, you’ll enter from over there and perform tomorrow’s piece. Don’t be nervous. You don’t need to give a full performance–today’s rehearsal is mostly for blocking and positioning.”

Olivia nodded and followed Grace’s instructions.

Stepping onto the stage, she raised her violin. After closing her eyes, she drew the bow across the strings.

Inside the lounge, everyone watched the monitor expectantly. Grace had been discussing the performance order with her staff, but the moment she heard the music, she stopped midsentence and slowly turned toward the stage.

When the piece ended, Olivia smiled elegantly and bowed toward the empty audience seats before walking offstage.

That had been perfect.
