Chapter 74 Rehearsal
Zane could hardly believe it himself.
After reading the message, he checked it a second time.
Olivia Sutton?

When Olivia had first returned to the Sutton family, he had looked into her background. While living with her adoptive parents, she had taken a few violin lessons–just enough to learn the basics.
How long had it been since she returned to the family?
And now she was scheduled to perform at the Capital City Music Gala?
Since when had the standards for the Capital City Music Gala dropped this low?
“So, are you going, Boss?” he asked.
Iris mentally reviewed her schedule for the next few days before suddenly remembering something.
“Yes,” she replied. “But tell them not to arrange special seating or launch a big publicity campaign.”
“Got it.”
That evening at dinner, Chloe could barely contain her excitement.
“Mom, Dad, I’ve been invited to perform at the Capital City Music Gala!” she announced. “They even gave me a family guest ticket.”
She looked at Iris.
“I want Iris to come with me.”

Chapter 74 Rehearsal
Lately, everything had been going her way.

With Hannah out of the picture, no one remained to compete with her for the Capital University recommendation spot. Now she had also received an invitation to perform at the Capital City Music Gala.
Compared to having Richard or Eleanor attend, she would much rather have Iris sitting in the audience.
She wanted Iris to watch her shine beneath the spotlight.
Only then would Iris truly understand the distance between them.
Richard completely missed the true intent behind the invitation. Instead, he assumed Chloe was trying to grow closer to her sister.
“That sounds great.”
Turning to Iris, he said, “Would you like to go? It could be a good opportunity for the two of you to spend more time together.”
Eleanor nodded in agreement.
“Exactly. Your father and I are getting older. You girls would probably have more fun together.”
Chloe affectionately slipped an arm around Iris’s shoulders.
“Come on, Iris. Mom and Dad both want you to go. You’ve probably never attended a music gala before, have you? This year’s event will even have judges from the Violin Association.”
Iris had already seen through her little scheme.
A faint smile curved her lips.
“Sure.”
She had already agreed to attend the gala anyway.

This simply saved her the trouble of finding a ticket.
At the mention of the gala, Eleanor suddenly remembered something else.

“By the way, Iris, is there any hobby you’d like to pursue?” she asked. “Whatever you’re interested in, your father and I will find the best teachers for you.”
Chloe had been studying violin since childhood and had already become exceptional among her peers. Because of that, Eleanor still felt she owed Iris something and wanted to make up for the years they had lost.
Iris shook her head.
“Nothing in particular right now. If I find something I like, I’ll let
you
know.”
Chloe sneered inwardly.
What an idiot.
Such a valuable opportunity, and she wasn’t even interested.
Meanwhile, in the office of the Capital City Music Gala organizers, Grace Smith let out a long sigh after reading Zane’s message.
She had known it.
There was no way that legendary musician would be easy to invite.
She had only been trying her luck.
“Grace, should we ask the opening performer to send in a recording?” one of the staff members asked.
Grace considered it for a moment before shaking her head.
“No. We’ll judge her during rehearsal.”

The recomrnendation had corne from the mayor of Kingsley. No matter what, the girl couldn’t be that bad.
They had claimed her skills were even slightly better than Noah Hart’s.
Grace had heard Noah perform before.

“Iris, can you look over the new piece I wrote?”
“No time. Ask your teacher.”
Darius knew exactly what her personality was like, so he wasn’t discouraged in the slightest.
He was just about to continue pestering her when his phone rang.
“Iris, I need to take this call. Can you bring these coffees backstage for the Association seniors?”
“Sure.”
