As the examiner flipped through the attached medical reports, his expression immediately darkened. The photographs documented horrifying injuries that were difficult to reconcile with the gentle–looking girl smiling from the student file.
Chloe quickly interjected.
“But Hannah isn’t here. A résumé can’t attend an interview for her.”
“What if someone deliberately made sure she couldn’t attend?” Iris asked calmly.
Chloe’s heart slammed against her ribs. She forced herself to remain composed, her fixed on the documents spread across the desk.
There’s no way she knows.
She can’t know.
Iris caught every subtle change in Chloe’s expression before turning to her with an unhurried glance.
Then, in a calm, measured tone, she asked,
“What do you think, Chloe?”
gaze
“I think?” Chloe repeated, forcing a composed smile despite the panic raging inside her. “I think nothing like that could happen at Capital Preparatory Academy. We have standards.”
In reality, she was terrified.
But she had worked far too hard to build the image of the perfect student in front of the interviewers. She absolutely could not allow that image to crumble now.
A faint smile touched Iris’s lips.
She withdrew her gaze from Chloe and turned to the examiners instead.

Chapter 78 Report Chine
Professors, I’d like to report Chloe Noir.”
“I believe she is directly connected to what happened to Hannah.”
The examiners‘ expressions immediately grew serious.

If the accusation was true, it would constitute an extremely serious case of school violence.
Assaulting a classmate to eliminate competition for a recommendation spot?
Capital University would never admit a student like that.
“This is a serious matter,” one of the examiners said gravely. “We’ll need to involve your school’s administration.”
It wasn’t long before Vice Principal Harris and the assistant principal were brought into the office. Mason Reed and several other students were also called in, and the room became crowded almost instantly. Students who couldn’t squeeze inside gathered outside the windows and doorways, eagerly listening to every word.
The moment Vice Principal Harris saw his prized student, he immediately took Chloe’s side.
“Chloe Noir has always been an outstanding student. She already qualifies for
recommendation on her own merits. Why would she need to assault Hannah Cole to secure the position?”
“Because Hannah’s overall performance in major exams throughout high school has been better,” Iris replied calmly.
Claire stepped protectively in front of Chloe.
“You’re accusing Chloe of this? Then where’s your evidence?”
At those words, some of the tension eased from Chloe’s shoulders.
She had always been cautious. She rarely acted personally, and whenever she did, she made sure Hannah wasn’t carrying any recording devices. That day, she had searched Hannah herself.

“Maybe Hannah lied to you, Iris,” Claire said, crossing her arms. “Her family has always struggled financially. Who’s to say she didn’t hurt herself just to frame Chloe and steal the recommendation spot?”
Chloe lifted her head once more.
By now, her expression had settled into one of hurt and disappointment.
“We re family, Iris. I’ve always treated you like my real sister. I never complained when you caused problems for me. I never complained when you took Mom and Dad’s attention away from me.”
“But now you’re helping an outsider frame me.”
“That really hurts.”
Whispers immediately spread through the students gathered outside.
“Seriously? Iris stole Chloe’s family and now she’s framing her?”
“Yeah, she’s believing an outsider over her own sister.”
“Come on, Iris wouldn’t do that!”
“Will the Foundation Class dogs shut up already?”
The assistant principal cleared his throat. “Iris, could there be some misunderstanding here? Chloe has always had an excellent reputation at school.”
Because nobody dared give her a bad one.
Iris let out a soft chuckle.
“No evidence?”

Chapter 75 Report Chion
“Exactly!” Claire jumped in at once. “Because Chloe didn’t do anything! How could there be
evidence? Iris, just because Chloe is kind doesn’t mean you can slander her in front of everyone!”
Chloe gently tugged on Claire’s sleeve before looking at Iris.
“That’s enough, Iris. If this is really about personal issues between us, can we settle it at home? The professors are busy. They shouldn’t have to stay here and watch family drama.”
She was convinced Iris had no proof.
All she had to do was keep steering the situation toward family conflict and misunderstanding.
“If you have evidence, then show it. We can all look at it together. I hate bullying as much as anyone else, and I can promise everyone that I would never do something like that.”
Then she paused before adding softly, “And if you can’t provide evidence, I won’t hold your false accusations against you. Just apologize in front of everyone, and we’ll put this behind us. How about that?”
