Fake Heiress True Luna (Irina) novel Chapter 33

Chapter 33: I Won’t Go With You

Irina’s POV

The world stopped. The air vanished from my lungs. Aiden Keaton, the Alpha of Shadow Pack, the biggest and strongest pack in the country, was on his knees before me.

His head bowed, his broad shoulders slumped in utter defeat. It was a sight more shocking than any confession, more devastating than any truth.

“Irina,” he said, his voice a raw scrape against the silence. “I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I judged and condemned you, even punished you for a crime you did not commit. I let my own pain and pride blind me to a deception that now seems obvious.” He lifted his gaze; this time, his grey eyes glistened. “Irina, please, let me help you know. I can ask you to accept me as your mate. I didn’t behave like it, but please come to Shadow Pack.”

I hesitated. I won’t lie. The emotions in his eyes made my heart clench.

“I… I don’t know what to say, Aiden,” I admitted.

Could I accept his offer?

“He apologized,” Theia pointed out.

“I know, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to forgive him,” I replied with a heavy sigh.

I am not one to hold grudges, but I feel like his hatred was not entirely justified. He could have asked me what happened. He could have done many things, but instead, he decided to keep that grudge against me, and when he found out I was an omega, he treated me like everyone else did.

If not worse.

“Get up, Aiden,” I said. If someone came into my room and saw him like that, it could be very hard to explain.

He shook his head. “I know what you’ll say, and I can’t let you stay in this pack. Some people

think Julie is the victim, but I don’t.”

“You don’t?” I questioned.

“He might not be the brightest bulb for some matters, but at least he can see right through her

lies,” Theia commented.

“I can see how much she is lying. She pretends to be all weak and stupid, but she only wants

to make you suffer,” he continued. “How can I let my mate stay in the pack that wants to

harm her?!”

I scoffed. “You didn’t have a problem with it when I felt Shadow Pack. You already knew Julie was not the woman she pretends to be, but you still let me go even after you saw me all

bruised because of her antics.”

“I know.”

“You brought another woman and didn’t tell me who she was because you wanted me to suffer, didn’t you?”

Aiden’s head lowered even more. “I am not proud of my previous actions; that’s why I won’t force you to forgive me.”

“I can’t go to Shadow Pack with you,” I said, the words feeling both right and painful. “I saw the same hatred I saw here in your Beta. There was a nice omega, but that was it. The rest didn’t care, and I’m sure if I return as the future Luna, they won’t respect me.”

“They will.”

“They won’t,” I countered. “You treated me with disdain; they will think you only accepted me because you didn’t have a choice. Do you think I want to go to another pack so they can look down on me?”

“But you can’t stay here…”

And I won’t, but I don’t plan to go to Shadow Pack. As you can see, I have everything ready to leave after the event tomorrow. I will leave this ledger behind so they know I have fully paid them back. I didn’t rest a single time. I worked from dawn to dusk so I could be free, so I won’t exchange these shackles for being shackled at your pack.

I gestured to the small, worn bag on my bed and showed him the ledger he had in his hands minutes ago. “My freedom was never going to be a gift from you, Aiden. It was something I built for myself, entry by entry, with my own two hands. I won’t trade one master for another, even if the new cage is gilded.”

Aiden looked from my bag to my face, and I saw the moment the full scope of my resolve truly registered. He had thought his apology and his offer were the solution.

“You think I would be your master?” he asked, his voice hollow.

“Wouldn’t you?” I challenged softly. “I would be the Luna of a pack where the Alpha and his Beta openly despised me for years. My every move would be scrutinized, my every order questioned. My authority would exist only as long as you enforced it. That’s not power. That’s
