Chapter 59: The Show’s About To Start
Irina’s POV
Debbie and Rylan couldn’t come with us. Derek was an Alpha, and his Beta would join us there. Aiden was coming with Ethan, and Kratos was my witness.
Did we have enough evidence to bury Julie? I wasn’t sure, but Aiden told me not to worry, and I decided to trust him.
We stepped outside, and the cold morning air hit me. This was it; today was the day I told everyone the truth.
“Derek, you will take Kratos. My Beta and Irina are coming with me,” he ordered.
Derek rolled his eyes; Aiden still had to work on his tone when he was talking to another Alpha, but at least it looked like he was trying.
Nobody complained about the sitting arrangements. Each of us started walking towards our cars when we heard a very cheerful voice coming our way.
“Wait up! I haven’t said goodbye!”
Aiden pinched the bridge of his nose as a redhead ran like her ass was on fire.
“Did you tell her what time we were leaving?” He asked Ethan, who, in exchange, averted his
gaze.
“No?”
I chuckled. Aiden looked mortified. I’m sure he didn’t want Debbie to come here, but I like her. The redhead finally caught up to us, slightly out of breath. “You weren’t seriously planning to leave without saying, were you?”
“Debbie,” Aiden said, his tone long-suffering, “I didn’t want to wake you up. We are leaving pretty early in the morning.”
She waved her hand, almost dismissing him. “This is not early; besides, I wanted to see my favorite person.”
“Me?” Ethan beamed.
Debbie gave him a blank look. “You may be my cousin, but you are not that important. I’m talking about Irina!”

My eyes widened. “What?”
“Girl! You are the first woman who made this huge and obnoxious guy get on his knees!” Everyone gasped at their statement. I glanced at Aiden, but he didn’t seem to care.
“He knows he f****d up, and that was the least he could uo,” Theia pointed out.
I mean… Yeah, but Alphas hate it when people hurt their pride.
“You might be the only person who made him realize he was wrong, and that is an achievement on its own. This pack needs that kind of girl-power. You are going to be one hell of a Luna.”
My jaw nearly hit the ground.
And I got jealous of her when I first met her, I can’t believe it.
“That was Aiden’s fault,” Theia pointed out. “If he had told us who she was from the start, there wouldn’t have been any misunderstandings.”
“True, Debbie supports us completely.”
“Debbie,” Aiden said slowly, “you’re speaking a little too freely this morning.”
She grinned, completely unfazed. “Am I? I’m just saying what everyone’s already thinking.”
Ethan snorted under his breath. “You really don’t have a self-preservation instinct, do you? You are my cousin, but Aiden might lose his temper soon.”
Debbie ignored him, turning back to me with a look of pure mischief. “Don’t let him scare you. He might bark a lot, but deep down, he’s a big softie.”
Aiden sighed. “Debbie-”
“Oh, don’t give me that look,” she cut in, waving a finger at him. “You are a prick to everyone, but you love your mate. I can finally see how much you’ve changed, and can’t wait until you two return. Please, make sure that evil woman pays.”
I nodded, my face now turning serious. “I will.”
After that, we headed to where the Council decided my trial would be held. For some reason, they decided to go to one of the fallen packs.
Nightfall.
From what I can remember, Nightfall was once one of the strongest packs, but one day, their Alpha went mad and killed everyone in his pack – pups, elders, warriors

spared. The land had been left tainted, abandoned, and avoided ever since. Even rogues didn’t linger there,
Aiden’s jaw was tense as we drove. The closer we got, the heavier the air became, as though the land itself remembered the blood that had soaked it. card stories about Nightfall before how the trees never grew back quite right, how the ground was unnaturally cold even in the sun.
“That Elder picked this place on purpose,” Theia muttered in my head, her tone sharp.
I nodded. It was obvious why they wanted me here. If I were an omega, the dark energy surrounding this pack would have made me weak, but now that I have discovered my true power, I don’t have to worry about that anymore.
I only had to focus on pretending so Julie or Ana, whatever her real name, wouldn’t suspect I’m stronger than when I left Blue Moon.
―
I rubbed my arms, staring out the window as the ruins came into view crumbled stone walls, charred remains of houses, and the faintest scent of old ash carried by the wind. The world seemed quiet here… too quiet.
“This is where they’re holding a trial?” Kratos asked as soon as the cars stopped and we stepped outside.
“Yes, I’m sure Elder Harden was the one who suggested it,” Ethan grumbled as he looked around.
He was more on edge than the rest of us.
“And they are waiting for you inside,” Kael appeared out of nowhere, making me yelp. “Sorry for startling you, my Alpha informed me you were near.”
Derek nodded. “Has everyone else arrived?” He asked his Beta.
Kael nodded solemnly. “Yes, even Julie arrived a few minutes ago; she was crying.”
“Crying?” Ethan asked, one eyebrow shooting up.
Kael nodded again, looking genuinely uncomfortable. “Yes. She looked… devastated. Said she was praying for Irina to find forgiveness.”
I almost laughed. Forgiveness. That woman could probably win an award for her acting skills. Theia’s growl echoed in my head, low and dangerous. “She’s playing the victim. Again.” “That’s the only role she knows how to play, but we still must be careful, she isn’t as dumb as

she seems.”
“Let her cry,” Aiden said flatly, his voice cold as stone. “She’ll need the tears when we’re done.”
The silence that followed was heavy-the icy wind cut thi faint scent of decay and burnt earth. My stomach twisted

e broken walls, carrying the part nerves, part disgust.
We began walking toward what used to be Nightfall’s pack house. That was the only structure that remained, even though this place was long forgotten.
The moment I stepped across the cracked threshold of the old Nightfall packhouse, I could f eel it. The darkness clung to the walls, to the broken stones, to the very air we breathed.
My power is related to life, and I can tell there is something… rotten here.
The opposite of what I am, the question is, who or what is corrupting this land?
Aiden walked beside me, his hand brushing against mine every few steps. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to ground me. Kratos followed close behind, silent but watchful, while Derek and his Beta exchanged wary glances.
Inside, torches had been set along the stone walls, their dim flames flickering weakly against the cold drafts that seeped through the cracks.
