Chapter 71: It’s Over
Aiden’s POV
One moment, Irina was near me, ready to fight Arlette. I had given her the chance to focus solely on the woman who caused most of her pain, but I never imagined that the next
moment….
She would be gone.
Puff. Just like that.
Vanished, out of thin air.
“Irina!” I roared, pushing off the wall, but the echo of her name was swallowed by the sound of my own heartbeat. She was gone. Completely. No scent, no trace, just gone.
f**k, I had to go after her!
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. You shouldn’t forget about your enemy here,” Harden sneered, pushing himself
off the wall.
I knew what I had done was not enough to knock him out. I was ready to end everything when
I suddenly felt Irina disappear.
“Move,” I ordered lowly, letting my voice and Arlo’s mix, but all this bastard did was smile.
“Or what? Think you can defeat me so easily, Aiden?”
I didn’t have any f*****g time to waste, but of course, he had to keep talking.
I truly hate Harden. Never, ever liked the guy.
“If that’s his true name,” Arlo pointed out.
My jaw tightened as his smirk widened. He didn’t have the same red eyes as Arlette, meaning he was just a wolf; he didn’t have any magic, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have some tricks, and I should be careful.
“I don’t have time for you,” I said through gritted teeth. “Move, or I’ll make you.”
Harden laughed, low and slow, like he thought I was bluffing. “She’s gone, Aiden. Dead, for all you know. Arlette was many things, but she never missed her mark.”
That did it.

Clarm
The air snapped-literally snapped-as my aura flared. I have always avoided releasing my whole power because I know how strong Arlo is.
Still, I can’t compare with Irina. She is on a whole different level, and so far, even if he has
tried to lie, I can tell she is fine.
“Wrong thing to say,” I growled.
Does he know I’m her mate?
I’m guessing he doesn’t, or else he wouldn’t be doing that pathetic attempt to distract me.
I lunged at him. In a blur, I had crossed the pace between us once more and slammed him into the wall hard enough to shake the entire place. The impact sent dust cascading down from the ceiling.
He tried to counter, his claws slicing toward my throat, but I caught his wrist mid-swing and twisted until I heard the sharp, wet crack of bone. His scream was raw and feral, echoing off
the stone walls.
“Where did she go?” I demanded, shoving him harder against the wall. “What spell did Arlette
use?”
He spat blood and grinned, eyes wild. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
I slammed my fist into his gut, hard enough to make him choke. “Answer me.”
He coughed, wheezing between breaths. “Even if I told you, you’d never reach her. You can’t protect her, Aiden. You never could. That’s why she was always—”
I didn’t let him finish. My hand wrapped around his throat, cutting off his words and his air. My claws bit into his skin, warm blood running down my fingers.
“I’m done playing nice.”
He clawed at my arm, trying to force me off, but I tightened my grip. His eyes bulged, flickering from white to red.
I was going to kill him.
“Aiden, stop! We need to know where Irina is first!”
“And you think this bastard is going to tell us, Arlo?” I snarled. “Don’t be so naïve. I doubt he would ever give us answers.”
My claws dug deeper into Harden’s neck as I leaned in closer, letting him see the rage simmering in my eyes. “But he’s going to wish he did.”

Chapter 71 the Over
Charm
“Aiden-” Arlo started again, but I didn’t let him finish. I shoved Harden across the room, his body slamming into the opposite wall with a crunch that was both satisfying and not nearly enough. He slid down, coughing and laughing weakly, blood staining his teeth.
“That temper of yours,” he croaked, wiping his mouth with the back of his trembling hand.
No wonder she-”
”
“Finish that sentence and I’ll make sure you never speak again,” I warned, my aura flaring so hard the torches flickered.
I stalked toward Harden, each step deliberate. His bravado flickered, replaced by the first hint
of fear.
I’m sure he has never seen me lose my temper, but he tried to mess with my mate, and that was something I could never allow.
I crouched down in front of him, grabbing his chin and forcing him to look at me.
“Arlette didn’t kill her,” I said. “I’d feel it if she did.” My grip tightened. “So tell me what she did do before I rip your eyes out and shove them down your throat for ever looking at my mate the wrong way.”
He tried to smirk again, but his jaw trembled. “Ah! So the enigma is your mate.”
“Wasn’t it f*****g obvious?”
“She doesn’t have a mark on her neck, so we can never be sure.” He smirked.
I tensed, because the bastard was right. Irina still doesn’t have my mark, and now that she has awoken her true self, she will be wanted by other Alphas.
Derek won’t be the only one after her, and worrying about him was already driving me crazy.
My hand twitched, tightening around his chin until I heard another bone pop. He hissed in
pain, but that smirk… it stayed.
“It is none of your f*****g business,” I stated. “Now, tell me where the f**k she is.”
Harden’s laugh was hoarse, broken. “Without a mark, she can walk away… just like the others
did.”
Arlo snarled inside me, a deep, rumbling growl that echoed in my skull. “Kill him. Now.”
So much for wanting to know where Irina is…
I grabbed him by the collar and slammed him back against the cracked wall. “I warned you.”

Clayt
He coughed blood, still grinning. “Do whatever you want, Alpha boy, even if you kill me, even if she kills Arlette. We are not what you should fear. Sooner or later, you will lose her.”
That was the final straw. He opened his mouth once more, but I was done.
I sliced his throat in one clean motion.
The sound was sharp-wet-and for a moment, the whole room went still. His eyes widened, then dulled almost instantly, a dark stream running down his neck and pooling beneath him.
“Guess we’ll never know what you were about to say,” I muttered coldly, letting his body drop with a dull thud.
