Chapter 148 She Had to Disappear

Aaliyah’s POV:

To calm me down, Benjamin eventually swallowed his anger and signed the agreement with me.

To keep an eye on me, though, he demanded that I stay at the Richardson Villa rather than return to Landon’s own place. His reasoning was that Landon was still nominally Natalie’s “mate”, and it’d be tough to explain things if Natalie came back.

I didn’t put up a fight. Benjamin had sent someone to pick up Nathan earlier. Staying here, with the servants to look after the child; I could enjoy a bit of leisure. As long as I achieved my aim, what did it matter to lie low for the time being?

That evening, I settled in. Benjamin assigned me to a master bedroom across from Grace’s. And once again, I’d be sharing it with Landon.

Grace’s POV:

The moment I learned that woman was going to be right across the hall, I went ballistic. But Benjamin was in a blue funk and holed up in his study, so I headed to Louisa to pour out my grievances.

If I couldn’t get the better of Aaliyah, I could at least steer clear of her, couldn’t I? But now she and the kid were right under my nose. How on earth was I supposed to stand it?

“Damn it! We shouldn’t have let Natalie go in the first place,” I grumbled, the thought of Natalie crossing my mind.

No matter how irksome Natalie could be, she was a sight better than that calculating, shameless Aaliyah.

Louisa’s POV:

Grace was blubbering beside my bed, her voice high-pitched and full of spite. I was reclined against the headboard, having just taken a tranquilizer. I drew in a few deep breaths to quell the fluttering in my chest. “Even if Natalie had stayed, Landon and Aaliyah are already bonded,” I murmured, shutting my eyes in weariness. The terms of my mate’s will felt like a boulder weighing on my heart. Was all the hard-earned territory and business of Thorn Pack really going to be squandered because of Landon? This was the life’s work of my husband and son!

“So, are we really gonna accept Aaliyah?” Grace couldn’t wrap her head around it.

“She’s got a child with Richardson blood. If she keeps hey nose clean and supports Landon, what other choice do we have?” I opened my eyes, my gaze dull. “But that’s not my main worry. I’m fretting about what comes next… We can’t keep this from Natalie forever. How do we dissolve her non-existent bond with Landon? And if we don’t, how do we sort things out with Aaliyah?”

I was an old woman on my last legs. As long as the Richardson bloodline endured and the pack prospered, maybe it didn’t really matter who Landon’s mate was.

Grace whispered menacingly, “Natalie won’t stir up much of a storm. If we can’t break the bond, then…

she’ll have to disappear. We’ll coax Natalie back. After the company goes public, we’ll stage a little ‘accident’ As time passes, we’ll make Aaliyah and Landon’s relationship public, Nathan is already Landon’s ‘adopted son’ on paper, so everything will fall into place smoothly.”

Poor Natalie. It was just her rotten luck.

Grace’s idea was the simplest and most direct way out, and deep down, it was the only path I could see to safeguard the pack. We couldn’t let an outsider, a half-breed she-wolf, wreck the Thorn Pack’s foundation and future.

Rather than responding, I simply picked up my soothing soup and heaved a long sigh.
