Chapter 147 Let’s Have a Chat
Landon’s POV:
I’d reached my limit. “Aaliyah! What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”

Aaliyah’s voice stayed as soft as ever, but it chilled me to the bone. “Landon, you’ve defied your grandfather’s dying wish. If things can’t be fixed, we’ll sink or swim together. Once I spill the beans about our relationship and how you’ve played Natalie and hidden me and Nathan all these years… trust me, it won’t just be the Richardson family taking a nosedive in the reputation department.”
It was way worse than just a blow to the family name.
If Aaliyah made a big stink, my dirty laundry would be aired out, ruining the Richardson Group’s credibility for good. The IPO we’d been working on would go down the drain in a flash. I could even lose my clout in the werewolf world!
Benjamin’s POV:
“Are you trying to blackmail us?” I’ve always had zero tolerance for threats. I didn’t cave when Natalie tried to blackmail me with the project and company stuff. Now, was I really at Aaliyah’s mercy?
“If that’s how you wanna see it, so be it. Well then…” I felt a knot in my stomach as I saw her about to hang
“Hold on!” I couldn’t gamble with the whole Thorn Pack and the company. I wasn’t about to let work be destroyed by this woman. I had to buy, some time.

“Where are you? Let’s have a chat. Since you and Landon have a kid, you’re… part of the family now.” It was a bitter pill to swallow, but I forced the words out.
“I’m right outside the door, but your wife won’t let me in. I’m outta here.” Aaliyah’s tone was ice-cold.
Grace was shooting me daggers with her eyes, her face red with rage. I could practically feel the fire in her as she itched to tear Aaliyah apart.
Louisa let out a long sigh, thumping her cane on the floor in frustration. Then she got up and shuffled out of the living room. She couldn’t bear the thought of seeing Aaliyah.
I ground my teeth and gave Grace a cold stare.
Landon jumped at the chance. “Aaliyah, don’t be stubborn. Mom’s just mad. I’ll come get you right now.”
Grace clung to Landon’s arm, but Landon looked down, full of regret as he gently pried her fingers off. He glanced at me apologetically, and I turned my head away.
The call ended before I knew it.
All I could do was watch Landon bolt out of the house, powerless to stop him.”

Before long, Landon brought me inside the Richardson Villa. After all these years, the villa still stood there, as grand as ever but somehow even more unwelcoming.
. I took off my cap, ran my fingers through my messy hair, and straightened my posture. The first time
Landon led me in as his private tutor, he was all smiles and full of life. The Richardson family was nice to me then… But now, the air was so suffocating.
Landon kept quiet. The looks of pure disgust on Benjamin’s and Grace’s faces were like stabs in my heart.
But I told myself it didn’t matter. I’d won. After all those years of keeping my head down, I’d finally walked in as Landon’s mate.
“What a shameless hussy,” Grace couldn’t help but mutter as she stomped up the stairs.
My chest heaved as I fought back the anger and humiliation welling up inside me.
Landon’s POV:
Panicked at the thought of Aaliyah losing it, I instinctively reached out and looped my arm through hers.
I was caught completely off guard by Aaliyah’s sudden resolve. Rather than slipping away unnoticed as per our plan, she’d decided to face the Richardson family head-on. In a heartbeat, the tenderness and remorse I’d once felt for her morphed into suspicion and caution.
It dawned on me that perhaps her past sweetness had been nothing but an act. I’d bared my soul to her, only to realize she’d been playing me from the get-go.
Now that Nathan was in the equation, I owed her a sense of duty. But I also knew I had to take steps to prevent her from having another “meltdown” and jeopardizing the interests of the Richardson family and
Aaliyah’s POV:
“Let’s have a chat,” Benjamin sighed, looking utterly exhausted. He barely spared me a glance before leading the way into the study.
My comeback had stirred up quite a hornet’s nest. The legal mess from my false accusations against Natalie was still up in the air, and I was in a tight spot. I had no choice but to lean on the Richardson family’s deep pockets and extensive network to wriggle out of this mess, ideally by coughing up some
cash.
As expected, Benjamin’s first condition was that I lay low until things calmed down and keep my relationship with Landon under wraps. This was strictly family business.
Without wasting any time, Benjamin had a contract drawn up and pushed it in front of me. It stipulated that until the Richardson Group hit the stock market, had to play ball with Landon and the family, and not do anything to sully their name. Break the rules, and I’d lose all my claims to the family fortune and Nathan’s custody, plus fork out a fortune in fines.
But I wasn’t going down without a fight. I promptly scribbled an extra clause on the contract: once the company went public, the Richardson family had to officially recognize my bond with Landon.
