“Sorry, I accidentally broke your phone. I’ll pay for it later,” Leonardo said, his voice eerily calm. But the cold malice in his voice chilled everyone present.
He looked up with a cold smile, his gaze sweeping across the room. His icy eyes froze anyone who dared to pry.
“It’s fine.” The man with the crushed wrist trembled, his voice shaking with pain. Even with Penelope’s backing, faced with Leonardo’s absolute power and aura, he was terrified to his core.
Leonardo wasn’t about to let him off. He increased the pressure between his fingers, and I even heard the faint sound of bones grinding. The man screamed and collapsed to the floor, clutching his arm.
“Mr. Sanchez, everyone here is a guest. There’s no need for you to be angry.” Penelope hurried over with her people, signaling her subordinates to help the wailing man away. “If it’s a misunderstanding, we can just clear it up. I’m sure Natalie wouldn’t deceive you. You must already know about these matters, right?”
Her words seemed conciliatory on the surface, but they actually pushed both Leonardo and me into the spotlight. The murmurs around us instantly intensified.
Victoria’s POV:
I clenched my fists, looking at Leonardo with some worry. I had warned Leonardo long ago that Natalie had ties to another man, but he completely refused to listen.
Having been around Leonardo for years, I knew him best. Whenever he fixated on something, he threw himself into it completely, regardless of the consequences. Seeing him like this now, he must be deeply hurt inside again.
Samuel’s POV:
I sat back comfortably, watching the show unfold.
My gaze swept over the faces of every Sanchez family member Everyone was staring at Natalie-no exceptions, their faces half worried, half newly scrutinizing. I smiled in satisfaction and sipped my drink.
Natalie only gained the Sanchez family’s acceptance through surface appearances. But powerful families were all the same. They cared about face more than anything.
No matter how close Natalie and Leonardo seemed, they hadn’t known each other long. With Natalie’s past laid bare before the Sanchez family, he wouldn’t be able to uphold the engagement on his own.
Natalie’s POV:
I could feel the worried, scrutinizing gazes of the Sanchez family elders weighing on me. Victoria looked at Leonardo with particular concern, as if convinced he had been deceived.
Samuel sat not far away, leisurely sipping his wine, a hint of smug satisfaction playing on his lips.

“Leonardo.” I didn’t care what others thought. I only cared about him. I dropped the microphone, quickly walked to his side, a huge unease welling up inside me. What was he thinking? Was he angry because I hid things? Did he step in just now for me, or simply to protect the Sanchez family’s reputation?
I reached out to touch him, but he didn’t turn around. The coldness coming off him felt like an invisible wall between us, and my heart sank.
Was he starting to despise me because of that man’s words?
“I’m sorry, Leonardo,” I explained softly, my voice carrying a barely perceptible tremor. “I do have a past, but it wasn’t the mate bond relationship he described. And it’s completely over. I didn’t tell you the details before because…”
I didn’t get to finish.
Because Leonardo suddenly turned and pulled me tightly into his embrace, holding me close. His hug was fierce and desperate, like he wanted to crush me into himself.
“Of course, I knew.” His low voice sounded above my head, carrying a trace of helplessness, and even a hint of indulgent laughter. “What are you afraid of, silly?”
“Leonardo…” I was caught off guard, crashing into his chest. The surrounding noise faded right away, leaving only his steady, strong heartbeat thudding against my ear-it miraculously calmed my anxiety.
So, he knew. He wasn’t angry. My heart suddenly settled.
He loosened his hold slightly but kept his arm around my waist, turning me to face the crowd. His voice regained its usual steadiness, but beneath that steadiness was an undisguised, sharp pressure. “My apologies for the scene. I let my emotions get the better of me.”
