Each word was soft, yet they cut through his absurd Alpha ego. He never imagined I could be this final, as if all our years together were just a complete joke.
“Natalie, stop being so stubborn! I know you’re deeply hurt. But does saying these cruel things erase our past?” Landon tried to stand up abruptly, but I was quicker. I kicked him hard in the vulnerable spot of his knee with my high heel. Caught off guard, he dropped back into a half- kneel.
I leaned down, gripping his jaw firmly and forcing him to look up at me. My eyes held pure contempt. “Landon, if you don’t want your dirty secret with Aaliyah spread all over werewolf society, you’ll do exactly what I say. Within three days, transfer my rightful shares in the Richardson Group and interest to my name. That’s the price you pay for deceiving me all these years.”
Landon was frantic, realizing I wasn’t falling for his emotional blackmail. He tried to struggle. I just gently shook my phone. A clear recording played, and it was his own voice from moments ago, apologizing and professing his love for me.
“Tell me,” I smiled, my finger hovering over the send button. The contacts page showed a long list of names. “Should I send this recording to Aaliyah first? Or straight to the social chat groups of the werewolf elite?”
Landon froze instantly, not daring to move another muscle. His eyes were filled with disbelief, as if he was truly seeing me for the first time.
“Natalie, you weren’t like this before. Let’s stop hurting each other. Your pain is real, but I’m suffering, too. Deceiving you all these years has tortured me. The most painful part is that I’ve long since…” He tried the emotional appeal again.
“One more word, and I’ll send it now,” I cut him off coldly.
He forced the rest of his words back down and knew now that I meant what I said.
Landon nodded in defeat. “Fine. I won’t say anything else. I won’t say another word. Just watch what I do. You want the shares? I agree.”
I knew he was just stalling and being evasive. But he loved to act and scheme, so I’d play along. The cruelest revenge wasn’t the final outcome, but making the person struggle, fear, and lose everything they hold dear throughout the process. Even if the Richardson family actually gave me the shares, who said I’d let them off the hook? I wanted them to have no peace.

As I turned to leave, Landon, still unwilling, reached for me. I sidestepped him and coldly whispered. “From now on, don’t show your face around me. Stop bothering me.”
I paused, deliberately slowing my words, then added, “After all, my status is different now. I have to consider my mate’s feelings.”
Landon’s face flushed bright red. “Natalic, you’re lying! You couldn’t have bonded with someone else that fast!”
“Quiet,” I snapped sharply, my gaze like a blade. “My husband is not someone you can afford to mess with. If he were to misunderstand, or if he were to get unhappy, the consequences would be something even I might not be able to control.”
With that, I didn’t wait to see the look on his face and walked straight to the elevator.
Landon’s POV:
Natalie’s final words felt like a sword through my heart. I stood stunned for a few seconds. Watching her about to enter the elevator, I still took a step to follow her.
However, a tall figure appeared like a ghost, blocking my path. His presence radiated the suffocating pressure of a high-ranking werewolf.
“Stop. No entry without a resident’s invitation.” The voice was icy, devoid of all emotion.
I thought it was just regular security. “Get out of my way!” I snarled impatiently, “I’m the mate of the resident who just went in. Mind your own business!”
The moment I moved, two more equally burly, cold-faced werewolf bodyguards appeared behind me. With a single look from the first man, the two easily seized my arms. Their grip was unbreakable.
“You!” Before I could finish, a heavy fist smashed into the bridge of my nose. Excruciating pain and a sour sting shot to my brain. Warm blood gushed out instantly. They released my arms. But then my tie was yanked tight, nearly choking me, and then I was thrown heavily to the ground.
Before I could catch my breath, a dense, vicious rain of kicks and punches fell on me. They targeted the painful spots, carefully avoiding vital areas. I could only curl up, letting out pained grunts.
Only when I was coughing up bloody foam and nearly losing consciousness did that familiar, frigid male voice sound again, like a pronouncement. “That’s enough.”
