Afterward, Leonardo didn’t even rest. Instead, he carried me to the bathroom. Warm water streamed down, soothing my sore body. I leaned against his chest and looked at his back. Large, scabbed wounds had turned dark red. Deep purple bruises along his waist were shocking.
“The water might cause an infection,” I said, my heart aching. Worried the stream would irritate his injuries, I carefully washed him with my hands, avoiding the wounded areas. The water flushed his skin a healthy pink, and his muscles looked strong and well-defined. Old scars covered his body, reminders of his past battles. But right now, the fresh wounds hurt me more.
Even after we’d just been intimate, I still felt shy. I couldn’t quite bring myself to look directly at his body, especially at certain parts below the water. As I kept washing him, I buried my face in embarrassment.
Leonardo seemed to notice. His warm palm gently stroked my smooth back, comforting me. Then he pressed my head softly against his firm chest.
“Do you dislike my body?” he asked quietly, a trace of tension in his voice.
I paused for a moment before I understood. He was afraid I would find his scars unattractive. As a top Alpha, he carried many scars from fights-badges of honor among werewolves.
“Of course not.” I shook my head right away. My cheek rested against his warm skin, and my voice came out slightly hoarse and shaky. “I… really like it.” And I truly did.
I used to be a little scared before. But earlier, with Leonardo, I felt excited-an excitement I couldn’t put into words. He was amazing. Being with him felt addictive, all-consuming.

“But I have a lot of scars,” he murmured, as if stating a fact, or maybe seeking reassurance. “The doctor said the ones on my back will leave very noticeable marks, too.”

My heart twinged. I looked up, meeting his deep eyes through the steamy mist. Droplets of water mixed with the wetness welling in my own eyes rolled down.
“Your scars are what I like most,” I said. I reached out and gently traced the longest scar on his back with my fingertips. “They’re your medals. They’re part of you.” I paused, then added more earnestly, “They prove you protected your people, your pack, your territory. How could I not like them?”
Leonardo’s gaze deepened, filled with complex emotions. He took my hand and guided it to a round, older scar near his left shoulder blade. It was darker and neatly shaped, clearly from long ago.
“Not all of them are medals,” he said, smiling, tinged with a hint of nostalgia and a complex blend of emotions. “Do you know how I got this one?”

My fingers gently touched the scar. I frowned slightly. “You said it was from a gunshot.” The thought of him being that close to death made my heart ache. Although werewolyes had great powers regeneration, silver bullets could still inflict fatal wounds.
“Yes.” Leonardo breathed softly against my forehead, his voice dropping lower. “But I never told you… This

wound is also why I was able to meet you.”
I looked up at him, confused. “What do you mean?”

A faint smile touched Leonardo’s eyes. “Your father, Alexander, once saved my life. Right after I was shot- when I was almost dead.” He brushed aside the wet hair clinging to my temple and stroked my lips with his thumb. “If it weren’t for him, I might not have found you so soon.”
“So… you first chose me as your bonded mate because of my father,” I whispered, my feelings mixed.
“Not just because of him,” he said quietly.
Leonardo’s POV:
Natalie leaned against me, warm and soft, her gentle scent wafting. I could feel her heartbeat gradually syncing with mine-a sign our bond was deepening.
“I’m not the kind of man who pledges his life to someone just out of gratitude,” I said seriously. I gently lifted her chin so she would look into my eyes.
Natalie’s eyes gleamed as she waited for me to continue.”
“I’d actually seen you three times before,” I said softly, my hand resting on her jaw.
“You saw me?” Natalie’s eyebrows rose slightly in surprise.
“Yes.” I looked down, remembering the first time.
It was at the Sanchez Group headquarters.
Natalie had once sought investments for Landon’s company and came to the Sanchez Group. The Richardson Group didn’t qualify, but to get a chance at a meeting, she had waited outside the building for an entire month.
