Chapter 252 Watching Me Secretly
Leonardo’s POV:

Every day after the investment project managers at the Sanchez Group left work, Natalie would show up right on time at the entrance. She always wore professional attire and carried a thick project proposal. Her eyes were determined and unwavering.
After a while, I happened to pass by the entrance corridor and caught a glimpse of her.
Natalie was strikingly beautiful to begin with. And since she wasn’t just there once or twice, my curiosity eventually got the better of me.
I asked Aaron about her, “Who’s that woman waiting by the investment department entrance every day?”
Aaron checked and told me, “Her name is Natalie. She’s here seeking investment for the Richardson Group. She’s been doing this for a month now. Quite persistent.”
At the time, I just thought she was a determined woman. In werewolf society, perseverance was a greatly admired quality. It meant one could keep one’s head during the frenzy of a full moon and outlast everyone on a hunt.
In the end, Natalie actually managed to secure a meeting. Even though the evaluation still resulted in a rejection, she bought coffee for the entire department involved as a thank you.
I remembered that incident pretty well. Aaron took the chance to grab a cappuccino for himself. When I caught him, he insisted it was sugar-free and politely asked if I wanted one.
“So you saw me back then?” Natalie recalled, finding it amusing. “Did you think I was overreaching? Honestly, I knew our company’s capabilities back then made getting your investment almost impossible.”
“I just thought you were beautiful,” I said firmly.
Her face flushed noticeably. “You’re not that kind of person.”
“It’s natural for men to like great women,” I murmured. My werewolf nature made it impossible to hide my desire for her. “Don’t think of me as too proper, Natalie. An Alpha werewolf doesn’t know the meaning of subtlety.”
“Well then,” Natalie said, thinking I was teasing her and playing along with mock indignation, “why didn’t you help me?”
“I thought about it,” I said, leaning closer to breathe in the captivating scent from her neck. “By the time I considered saying hello, your meeting was already over. Later, I thought if you came back one more time, I’d have Aaron give you a chance.”
I gently kissed her forehead. “If I’d known you were my future mate, I wouldn’t have just invested in an unqualified company. I would have given you everything I had if you’d asked.”
Even though it was partly a joke, the answer clearly delighted Natalie. She couldn’t suppress her smile and buried her face against my chest.

“That was the first time. What about the others?” she asked.

“I thought you’d remember the second time,” I said. “Six months ago, at that big commercial project ribbon-cutting in the neighboring city, I saw you there that day.”
A flicker of confusion passed through Natalie’s eyes.
I gave her a few more details, and then it finally clicked.
Natalie’s POV:
Leonardo was right. It was a major city-level project. A lot of business leaders from Maritime City attended. I went for Landon’s sake, hoping to find opportunities to connect with potential clients.
But I spent most of the day waiting outside the hotel without getting in. Later that night, it started raining. As I rushed to take shelter under the canopy at the hotel’s back entrance, I bumped right into someone.
The lighting was poor. I just remember the person was tall and carried an air of restrained power—that distinctive aura of a top-tier Alpha werewolf. That brief contact was enough to get me pushed away.
The man’s bodyguard quickly stepped in between us. Looking back now, his entourage was sizable. I even remember glancing at the row of cars, wondering which important person it was.
I could hardly believe it. “The person I bumped into that day was you?’
“It was me,” Leonardo said, a smile playing on his lips, his eyes reflecting the startled look in mine. “I recognized you immediately. You usually seem so composed. How come you’re so clumsy when you walk? You really hurt my chest.”
His scolding tone was full of playful teasing. He emphasized the word “chest”.
Hearing him say that, the memory of that moment came rushing back. A tingling sensation ran through me. I reached out and gently touched his chest. “Does it still hurt? Should I rub it for you?”
Leonardo laughed. His voice was clear and made my heart flutter. “It doesn’t hurt now, of course,” he said, catching my wandering hand. “I didn’t leave right away that day. I sat in the car and watched you for a bit.”
“You were watching me secretly?” I asked, surprised.
“There’s only one woman I’ve run into twice, who actually sticks in my memory,” Leonardo admitted frankly.
Then he continued, “I didn’t leave. I saw you shivering in the rain. I even told Aaron to buy you an umbrella. But before my guy could get it to you, you ran back out into the downpour.”
