“She…” I opened my mouth, but I couldn’t bring myself to admit I had already begged Natalie. That humiliating beg was the most embarrassing memory of my life.
Thinking I was just too proud to ask, Grace said grudgingly, “To be honest, I don’t want you to beg her either. She’s gone too far this time. But I’ve been thinking. A woman who was deceived like that couldn’t help but be furious. And what you did was too far.”
She looked at me, her expression complicated. “If Natalie didn’t love you at all, why would she hate us so much? The opposite of hate is often love.”
I still didn’t speak.
But hearing her say Natalie might still have love stirred something in my deadened heart.
Did she still love me, not just hate me?
Even if she had just a shred of love left for me, it would make me feel better. Anything was better than her complete indifference.
“Here’s what I think,” Grace said. “Break the soul bond with Aaliyah completely! Let her have the child. Natalie can have children. You two can have a pureblood heir later.
“If talking doesn’t work, then use some Alpha tactics. Mark her thoroughly, and make her form a new soul link with you. Even the coldest she-wolf can’t resist a persistent, determined male.
“And as for all the things Natalie has done these past few days, once we get the company back and the pack is stable, we can settle the score with her slowly.”
I didn’t show any emotion on my face. I just gave a few noncommittal replies to Grace’s wild suggestions.
But I knew the seed had been planted. All night, her words kept winding through my mind.
I sat in my car until early morning,
Natalie had blocked me on everything. My messages couldn’t get through, and I couldn’t even see her social media updates. It was like she had vanished completely from my world.
I tried to clear my head and think rationally about our situation, but I kept getting pulled back into the emotional whirlpool. Especially when I remembered Natalie’s icy, resolute eyes outside the Richardson Group building.
I opened my phone’s photo album. It was full of old pictures of Natalie. Most were from our four years in college. During our two-year fake contract, she was too busy, and I was completely focused on building the pack’s business empire. We never even had one proper date as mates.
If only I could have a fresh start, erase all the mistakes between us…

I hated who I was now. I wished I could love someone purely, the way Natalie did.

By the time dawn broke, I finally returned to the Richardson Villa. A heavy, oppressive atmosphere hung in the air. The servants had just gotten up, and breakfast wasn’t ready yet. They hurriedly asked what I wanted to eat.
I just waved them off and silently went upstairs. Aaliyah and Nathan were still asleep.
Before I reached my room, I saw my grandmother emerge from hers. She looked older than before, but her eyes were still sharp.
“Grandma,” I greeted her.
“Come with me,” she said, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Louisa’s POV:
We went into Benjamin’s study. After dismissing everyone else, I handed Landon a document sealed with the family crest.
“This is my grandfather’s trust fund?” Landon’s eyes widened in shock.
The Richardson Group was founded by Gabriel, an Alpha known for his wisdom and iron will. Fearing the company might not succeed under his children’s leadership, he set up a trust fund managed by a specialized werewolf trustee. Its assets were now close to a billion dollars.
A billion dollars couldn’t compare to a publicly traded company, but it was more than enough to help Landon start over.
It was originally left to me to be distributed to my descendants after my passing. But because of the situation with Landon and Aaliyah, Gabriel added a clause before he died. If Landon hadn’t cleanly broken things off with Aaliyah, the fund would have been donated to charity rather than left to Thorn Pack.
This clause limited my authority over the fund.
If Landon and Aaliyah weren’t truly bonded, I might have bent the rules. But now, I couldn’t violate the
terms.
I had been utterly disappointed in Landon. I thought giving him the inheritance would be a curse, and it might be better to just donate it as Gabriel wished, as a punishment. After all, with the Richardson Group intact, the pack wouldn’t fall.
But now, Natalie had turned the Richardson Group into an empty shell, taking most of the key people and clients. I couldn’t swallow that injustice.
I confessed to Gabriel last night. Now, I was determined to give the fund to Landon. Benjamin’s health was broken. The only one who could save the Richardson family now was Landon, my only grandson.
“That’s right,” I said, my voice firm. “Take this fund. Whether you inject it into the company or use it as collateral, it gives us a fighting chance. Natalie is just a hybrid with no background and no foundation. She can’t last in the werewolf business world! Revenge is a dish best served cold. As long as you have the will!”

I didn’t believe the rumors that the company depended on Natalie. In my view, it was only by clinging to Thorn Pack that she learned her skills. Taking control of the Richardson Group was one thing, but she showed no mercy, spreading the news about Landon and Aaliyah everywhere. That vicious girl! I must have been blind to ever defend her.
