Chapter 262 How Inferior

When Aaliyah appeared, with a red mole in the exact spot behind her ear, I was convinced she was my destined savior. That romantic, fated connection had a deadly allure for my younger self.

We bonded in secret, our love passionate and rebellious. She embodied the warmth I craved.

But looking back now, many details were hazy. I couldn’t even clearly remember how she found me or what we said to each other. That intense sense of fate gradually faded after she came into my life, until it was gone for good.

“What are you trying to say?” Aaliyah understood my implication, her tone turning more sarcastic. “Because it’s hazy now, it can all be forgotten and written off?”

“I will always acknowledge my debt to you. But my feelings for you… They’re like those fuzzy memories. At some point, they became incomplete.” My voice was hoarse. I felt despicable, selfish, and heartless.

But I was just so tired. I couldn’t lie anymore. The red mole behind Aaliyah’s ear was gone, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t forget Natalie.

O

“Landon…” Aaliyah’s voice trembled as she fought to stay calm. “Just answer me this one thing. If it weren’t for what happened on the mountain, in all these years, did you never love me at all?”

I lowered my head. After a long pause, I answered bitterly, “I don’t know.”

Aaliyah’s POV:

Ten years of entanglement, and it all came down to “I don’t know.”

My breath seemed to freeze. The corner of my mouth twitched. I felt completely hollowed out, as if my soul had been ripped away.

“Daddy! Mommy!” Nathan’s voice came from the doorway, sleepy and anxious. Our arguing had woken him. He didn’t understand what was happening, but he sensed my immense sadness and Landon’s cold distance.

Seeing Nathan, I immediately forced a smile and wiped the corner of my eye. “Nathan, why are you up so early?” I moved to hug him.

But Landon grabbed my wrist. His voice was very low and gentle, but it cut deeper than the sharpest knife. “Think about the compensation. Let’s get the paperwork done quickly. Dragging it out helps no one, especially Nathan.” Without waiting for my reaction, he turned and left.

Nathan looked up at him and called out timidly again, “Daddy?” This time, his retreating back was resolute,

‘as if he hadn’t heard.

“Daddy doesn’t want me anymore, does he?” Nathan murmured the question as soon as I held him.

His big eyes were full of confusion. His usual willful expression was gone, replaced by a child’s

helplessness.

A lump formed in my throat. Words of comfort failed me. I just held Nathan tighter.

I murmured, “No. I can’t lose. I have to hold on, if not for myself, then for Nathan.”

That evening, I waited for Nathan to fall asleep before planning to talk to Aaliyah again about dissolving the bond. But I found she wasn’t home.

She seemed to have left in a hurry. Most of her things were still there, but she had taken Nathan with her.

Her phone was off. Suddenly remembering something, I rushed to our room to search.

I had given Aaliyah the flash drive with Natalie’s research data. She never returned it.

Fortunately, after searching for a while, I found it in the nightstand drawer. I guess I was just being paranoid.

Aaliyah’s POV:

Nathan stared silently out the car window, his lips pressed tightly together.

The car carried us away from Maritime City into the night. The city’s lights reflected on his quiet little face.

I had just finished a phone call. After transferring the data from my laptop in the car, I noticed Nathan’s mood.

“Trust me, Nathan. We’re just leaving for a little while,” I said, pulling him close.

Nathan nodded but then pouted, “But I don’t want to be without Daddy. I don’t want Daddy to be with that bad woman.”

“Don’t worry,” I said, kissing his forehead. My Omega pheromones gently wrapped around him, soothing. “I’m here. He won’t abandon you.” But my eyes were as cold as frost.

Landon thought he could shake me off? In his dreams!

Natalie thought she could destroy us? Delusional!

I had already sent Natalie’s unpublished core research data to a publicly listed company in Kaelis City. That company had strong official backing. It was also the company where my parents worked. My family wasn’t a top werewolf lineage, but both my parents were senior academic elites. If Maritime City were a dead end, I’d develop in my own territory.

I had already negotiated with the company over the past few days. They valued the data I provided highly and immediately offered favorable terms, inviting me to head a new branch.

On my home turf, with my family’s resources and this company’s platform, I had the ability to help

Landon rebuild a business empire no less impressive than the Richardson Group! I wanted to prove I was better than Natalie. If Natalie could build the Richardson Group into a public company, I could make a

comeback for them.

But before I could even tell Landon this, the Richardson family turned on me. Even Landon! They wouldn’t even give me this chance. All they cared about was that billion-dollar fund, about winning back Natalie.

Well then, I would make them all see-every single one of them-just how inferior Natalie was compared

to me.

They would see who could truly help Thorn Pack. They would see who was the more worthy mate!
