Finally, Landon accepted me. We agreed to bond after he graduated.

But right around that time, I met Landon’s grandfather, that same older gentleman who was supposed to have disappeared from my life after our nightclub encounter.
Gabriel recognized me. He privately spoke with me once, asking me to name my price again-to keep the secret and stay away from Landon.
But this time, I refused without hesitation. I realized I genuinely liked Landon. Being with him was exciting and thrilling, and it fueled my desire to conquer. That, to me, was love.
Snapping back from the memory, I looked at Landon’s face-filled with guilt yet utterly detached. I wiped
my tears away.
I said, “I won’t agree to break the bond. Even if I end up with nothing, I’ll stay with you out of spite.”
Seeing my emotions had calmed, Landon spoke plainly, “Let’s part on decent terms. I don’t want this to get ugly. It’s not good for Nathan either.”
“What you choose to do is your business. But you owe me. You owe me a debt, and you have to repay it,” I said softly, the look of utter helplessness fading from my face. The tears in my eyes turned cold and sharp.
“Do you remember what happened on the mountain?” Landon suddenly asked, his gaze locked on mine.
My gaze sharpened in surprise. I wasn’t sure why he was bringing this up now. I just pressed my lips together and didn’t respond.
Landon was mature for his age. When we first met, he was frequently mixing with the top circles of Maritime City’s werewolf elite, networking for school and his future. The people he hung out with were mostly seniors from prestigious local universities.
One of them was a friend of mine. I fell for Landon at first sight during a party. Afterward, I asked my friend to discreetly find out what kind of girl he liked.
That investigation led to a surprising discovery. Our connection went back much further, to when he was just six years old.
That year, there was a popular winter adventure camp in Maritime City. Organized by retired werewolf soldiers, it took groups of teenagers to explore a famous mountain range overseas.
It was very expensive, so only kids from wealthy families could afford it.
“Just before the trip, the organizers had ten spots left. As a goodwill gesture, they partnered with a werewolf education institution to hold a selection process. They offered ten free spots to gifted children from less privileged backgrounds.
I was one of the lucky few.

The whole trip was luxurious. The only hitch was during the mountain trek. A boy from a neighboring group got separated and nearly had a serious accident.
Afterward, we camped at the base of the mountain for a few days. A rescue team even came to pick us up by helicopter when we returned.
I was twelve at the time, so it left a strong impression.
Back home, I followed the news. It said the lost boy was carried back by a teammate. He was shaken but fine after a couple of days in the hospital. That boy was Landon.
I also heard that after returning, Landon couldn’t stop thinking about the girl who saved him.
But she hadn’t gone to the hospital. The group disbanded after the trip, and all the children’s information was kept private. Landon never saw what she looked like. The only thing he remembered was a tiny red mole behind her ear.
Landon even put out a public notice searching for her and asked others who were on the trip, but it led nowhere.
The person who saved him had vanished into the crowd. Wasn’t this the perfect opportunity fate had handed me?
O
So I immediately dug up my old camp application form. I put a red dot on the back of my neck, found a mutual acquaintance to casually mention it, and successfully made Landon believe I was the girl he’d been searching for.
No one could resist a bond that felt like destiny. I prepared meticulously, and soon we were together, passionate and intense.
He was young and fiery, and I was in the prime of my youth.
Our relationship broke a taboo. From my careful planning, to playing hard to get, to us secretly pledging ourselves to each other…
Every step was as thrilling as a story, utterly addictive.
I fell hard. Naturally, Landon fell even harder.
So even when the Richardson family objected, it only made us more determined.
I just never imagined I had overestimated my control and underestimated a man’s fickleness.
After ten years of feelings, I gave everything. Yet Landon only grew more calculating.
The man who was once willing to betray everyone for he had, in the end, betrayed me, too.
Landon’s POV:
During that mountain trek, my curiosity got the better of me. I wandered off from the group, got caught in a small avalanche, and was trapped. As my consciousness faded, a girl found me. She carried me on her

I remembered the faint, comforting scent on her. I remembered a small, vivid red mole near the base of her ear, like an ember in the snow, warming my fading awareness.
After returning, I searched many times. But all participant records were confidential. I found nothing. It became a beautiful fixation from my youth.
