Chapter 274 Be Jealous?

Chloe’s POV:

“Ms. Chloe Kelly?” A voice laced with a flippant smile snapped me out of my thoughts.

I looked up to see Samuel, who had already made himself comfortable in the seat next to mine. The strong, cloying scent of his cologne filled my nose, and I immediately moved away to put some distance between us.

“Samuel, don’t sit so close,” I said coldly.

Samuel and I weren’t close-far from it. We’d only crossed paths at a few werewolf business dinners. He was presumptuously familiar. After greeting Eleanor, he’d always try to strike up an enthusiastic conversation with me, too.

But he was like a social butterfly, flitting between different Omega and Beta females every time.

“What brings you to the Scott Group all of a sudden?” Samuel asked, still smiling. “Looking for someone? Need help? I can take care of it for you.” His hand reached for me like it was the most natural thing.

“No, thank you,” I said. Not wanting to engage further, I stood up to leave.

But Samuel was quicker. His fingers closed around my wrist. He wasn’t using full strength, but it was enough to throw me off balance. My heels slipped on the floor, and I stumbled backward, falling right into his arms.

In that instant, I caught the predatory edge in his Alpha scent. It wasn’t malicious, just a frivolous signal that he saw me as a potential flirtation target.

My reaction was pure instinct-a self-defense move my mother had taught me for dealing with unruly Alphas. I drove my elbow backward sharply, hitting the cluster of sensitive nerves on the inner thigh with precision.

Samuel hissed in pain, his grip instantly releasing.

I landed awkwardly on the floor, scrambled up, and brushed the dust from my

clothes.

“Ms. Kelly, I was just trying to help. What was that for?” Samuel’s face was pale from the pain. All the levity was gone from his voice, replaced by genuine anger.

I was about to speak when another voice cut in, “Ms. Kelly!”

A Beta woman in professional attire hurried over. Her eyes quickly assessed the scene before settling on me. When her gaze shifted to Samuel, a flash of disdain flickered across her face, gone in an instant.

“”My apologies for being late. Are you alright?” Lily said, offering a hand to help me up.

“Lily, what’s that supposed to mean? She fell! I’m the one who got hurt here!” Samuel nearly shouted.

Lily turned to him, her face a picture of harmless professionalism. “I didn’t say anything, Mr. Scott. Don’t

be so sensitive.”

I straightened my clothes, wanting no further part in this. “Let’s go,” I said.

“Of course,” Lily replied immediately. She led me away from the lobby at a brisk pace, not sparing Samuel another glance.

Samuel’s POV:

I stood in the middle of the lobby, the throbbing pain in my inner thigh still fresh. I gritted my teeth, trying to keep my expression neutral, but inside I was cursing a blue streak.

What was Chloe made of? She looked so aloof and delicate, but she hit like a truck!

Rumor had it she had plenty of suitors, and even Liam was head over heels for her. Every time I saw her, I wondered if she was the classic type-cold on the outside, fire underneath.

I was just engaging in my usual flirty banter. Given my status in the Moon-Shadowed Pack, most females either played along or politely declined. Chloe was the first one to ever retaliate with physical force.

Maybe all those guys chasing her were masochists?

Anyway, she was not my type.

What annoyed me more was Lily’s attitude. That Beta assistant usually just gave me a formal, business-like nod. Today, she didn’t even bother hiding it—the scorn in her eyes was practically oozing.

I felt a surge of irritation, but then, I found it kind of funny. Was Lily being a bit sarcastic with me just

now?

“Could she be jealous?” I had flirted with Lily a few times. Maybe she was actually smitten?

Landon’s POV:

Aaliyah wasn’t answering her phone. She probably Couldn’t accept the bond dissolution and was avoiding the negotiation by refusing to talk.

But where could she go after leaving the Richardson Villa? Back to her parents’ house?

The thought that Aaliyah had also fallen out with her family because of me stirred a flicker of guilt.

But that guilt couldn’t weaken my resolve to break the bond.

On one hand, I needed to settle things between us quickly, to secure the fund.

On the other hand, I wanted to find Natalie.

She was all I thought about every day. I was going crazy with the desire to have her back.

But Natalie had cut all ties. My number was blocked. She no longer set foot in Thorn Pack territory or our company. Even her residential complex had tightened security, locking me out.

I scoured our list of mutual friends from university, asking everyone. No one had been in contact with her.

Those friends were almost all from my social circle.

All these years, I never really knew Natalie. She seemed so close, almost within reach. But when I reached out, there was nothing.
