Chapter 306 Join Him in the Elevator
Aaliyah’s POV:

“The incident on the mountain,” Landon said, suddenly closing the distance between us. His Alpha aura, diminished by his injuries and the alcohol, now erupted with a dangerous, scorching fury. “Do I have to spell it out, Aaliyah? How shameless can you be, pretending to be someone else, letting me be grateful to you all this time? Did you take me for a fool?”
He was burning with rage now. He moved closer, one hand gripping my chin, the other seizing my wrist by my side, pinning me against the wall. His strength was shocking. Pain spread from where he held me, twisting my features.
I shook my head, tears welling in my eyes, pleading silently.,
“What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue? Weren’t you all about this? Go on!” His voice was a low, vicious snarl. “Tell me how much I owe you. Tell me how much you love me… how you’ve always been sincere with me.”
“Yes!” I bit back the pain, my teeth clenched, my eyes red as I fought the tears. “I lied to you. But my feelings were real. I thought it was fate bringing us together. I thought it was my own brave choice. You stopped caring for me long ago, but I was still foolish enough to give you my heart.”
He looked down at me, his expression blank. A cold, mocking smile touched his lips. His eyes were completely empty.
Feeling his grip on my chin loosen slightly, a fragile spark of hope ignited. “Is it possible…” I whispered, “that the person you faced all these years was me? The ‘me’ you saw was just me, not someone else, not some shadow in your mind. Can you honestly say you never had any real feelings for me? Was our love a complete lie from the start?”
I was desperately trying to reach the man I thought I knew-to salvage something from the ruins.
It was useless. At this moment, nothing I said would get through to him. He had zero interest in dissecting the rights and wrongs of our past.
“If you ever truly loved me,” he said, all the anger drained from his voice, “then break the bond. Tomorrow morning, we’ll handle the paperwork.”
He released me as if touching me had become repulsive. Where he had held me felt cold.
“Landon…” I reached out to grab his hand, but he was already turning away. He staggered toward the stairs, heading for the rooms upstairs.
All my strength left me in an instant. I slid down the wall until I was sitting on the cold floor. Finally, the tears came, flowing relentlessly.
Why…
Why could he forgive Natalie, who had done such a cruel thing and left him?
Why was he so heartless when I had given everything just to be with him?

Chapter 306 Join Him in the Elevator
Finished
At noon, I hurried toward the elevators carrying a large bag of coffee. I’d just squeezed into one when someone bumped me back out. It was the peak lunch hour, and the elevators were always packed. I nearly spilled the drinks.
“Over here.” A familiar, low voice, leaving no room for argument, brushed past my ear.
I looked up, my heart skipping a beat for no reason. Liam passed by. He was with two assistants, walking straight toward another elevator marked for executives without a sideways glance.
I froze, unsure if he was talking to me. As the Moon-Shadowed Pack’s heir, would he really strike up a conversation with me in a public place like here? Considering our complicated, awkward history, he should have pretended not to see me.
“Ms. Chloe Kelly, Mr. Liam Scott asks that you join him in the elevator,” one of his assistants returned and said to me in a low voice.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, I followed. Liam was already waiting inside. His other assistant held the door and only released it once I stepped in.
“How’s the new job treating you?” Liam asked, his tone casual but polite. He wasn’t looking at me, his gaze fixed on the changing floor numbers.
We had cleared the air between us, restored our friendship, and even chatted once recently.
It was just him asking how I’d been, along with a meme.
“Yeah.” I nodded. “Thanks.”
Hearing the word “thanks,” he turned his head slightly, giving me a seemingly surprised glance. In that instant, my eyes lifted to meet his.
Our gazes connected briefly in the air.
His eyes glinted faintly under the elevator light, but the spark faded fast-replaced by his usual, distant calm. We both looked away at almost the same time.
I felt my cheeks grow warm.
He seemed to find the silence awkward, too. He pressed his lips together and gave a light cough. “You should thank Natalie. I just mentioned your situation to her. She values talent.”
“Yeah, I’m grateful to her,” I murmured vaguely. I didn’t say more. He didn’t speak again either. The elevator was quiet except for the soft mechanical hum and my own, slightly too-fast heartbeat.
When the elevator stopped at my floor, he hadn’t even asked-he just knew which floor I needed. I didn’t question it either. I simply said, “Bye.” Then I walked out!
