Chapter 324 My Most Sensitive Nerve
Victoria’s POV:
61
Finished
I stood in the cold, dimly lit hallway watching Natalie walk toward that door without a second glance. I felt like a complete fool. She didn’t even look back at me, as if I were nothing.
Her words were like poison, hurting the most vulnerable part of my heart.
When I heard Leonardo and Natalie had fought and he’d left alone, I almost thanked the Moon Goddess for the opportunity. I booked a flight back immediately.
I knew showing up unannounced wouldn’t earn me any kindness from Leonardo. But if there was even a sliver of a chance, I wouldn’t give up. I wanted him to see that when he needed someone most, I was the one by his side, not Natalie.
I hadn’t told Natalie about Leonardo’s condition. But I was certain the truth couldn’t stay hidden forever. One day, she would learn everything he was keeping from her.
I just needed to be patient and wait for that moment.
I just didn’t expect it to come so soon. The fact that Natalie wasn’t with Leonardo was proof enough-I was right.
No one could truly accept Leonardo but me.
When I saw him, he was worse than I’d imagined-pale, with dark circles under his eyes, radiating a cold, depressed aura that pushed everyone away. When he saw me, all I saw in his eyes was disgust and scorn.
But I was prepared. I didn’t cry or beg. I just told him calmly, “See, Leonardo? I was right. I’m the only one who can accept all of you.”
He furiously told me to “get out.” The pressure from a top-tier Alpha made my knees weak, but I forced myself to finish. “Are you still clinging to some fantasy about Natalie? Leonardo, if you really cared for her, you shouldn’t be with her. You know that better than anyone. If you insist on staying with her, then you don’t love her. You just want to possess her!”
I didn’t get to finish. Leonardo physically forced me out the door.
Leonardo’s POV:
I had just woken up. The doctor was right-my emotions were affecting my recovery. Even after taking my medication, I’d spiked a low-grade fever in the afternoon. I’d slept fitfully until now. My body was exhausted, but my mind felt even heavier.
My phone on the nightstand lit up, then went dark, over and over. It showed two missed calls from Natalie.
Seeing her name, my heart immediately clenched. But the impulse to call back was quickly suppressed.
Just then, the doorbell rang. My eyes instantly brightened.
My restless nerves were suddenly overtaken by longing and a desperate hope.

Chapter 324 My Most Sensitive Nerve
I forgot all caution and strode to the door, every shred of rationality vanishing. “Natalie!”
But when I opened the door, it was Victoria.

Finished
How did she find me here? I knew right away someone close to me had told her.
Last night’s incident was contained. Only a few household staff knew about my episode. The only people who knew I’d come here were the driver who brought me, the private doctor, and Aaron.
I didn’t have the patience to figure out who it was. Aside from Aaron, everyone else would have to be replaced.
I didn’t want to see Victoria or hear a word from her. I didn’t let her finish before forcing her out.
Even so, her words had hit a raw nerve.
Even if Natalie chose me…
If I knew being with me could hurt her, could I still selfishly pretend everything was fine?
I couldn’t decide.
Then, the doorbell rang again. I ignored it. It was probably Victoria, refusing to give up.
But the doorbell soon turned into urgent, almost violent banging. The sound was jarring in the silent night.
Then, I heard Natalie’s furious voice. “Leonardo! Open the door! I know you’re in there. Do you really want to break our bond?”
It was Natalie! She was really here!
I hesitated for a long time. Then her voice, tinged with hurt and even tears, came through the door. “Leonardo, how can you be so cruel? My hand is bleeding again, and you still won’t open the door?”
Her hand! Her injury! All my resolve and stubbornness instantly crumbled. Worry for Natalie overwhelmed every defense. I yanked the door open.
There she was, standing in the doorway, her eyes slightly red, her breathing a little quick from agitation. I grabbed her wrist-maybe too hard, but I didn’t care. I urgently looked down at her bandaged hand. “You hurt, and you bang on the door like that? Don’t you feel any pain?” The anxiety and heartache in my own voice were unmistakable.
Looking closer, the bandage was clean. No blood had seeped through. I finally relaxed a little.
Once I confirmed her hand was okay, I let go. I couldn’t eyen look her in the eye, afraid I’d see disappointment or pity there.
“If you knew it would hurt, you should have opened the door sooner,” she said softly, but her gaze locked
onto me.
I awkwardly avoided her stare. “I didn’t know it was you.”
“You didn’t know it was me? Then who did you think it was? Victoria?” Her voice was calm, but it carried the force of someone who saw right through me.
