Fake Mate Beta Rises to Alpha Heiress (Natalie and Landon) novel Chapter 329

Chapter 329 Professional Instinct

Victoria’s POV:

But why? Why was Leonardo so unfair? Back then, when I showed just a flicker of doubt, a moment of uncertainty and fear about the future, he cut me off completely without a second thought. There was no going back. But with Natalie, he could just overlook everything?

After speaking, Aaron nodded politely, walked past me, and entered the apartment building.

I watched his back disappear into the lobby, feeling all my strength drain away. A familiar, sharp cramp twisted in my stomach-an old issue that flared up when my emotions hit rock bottom.

I leaned against the cold car door, breathing in the crisp night air deeply. It didn’t help. The pain worsened, mixing with the ache in my chest until I could barely stand.

Aaron’s POV:

Leonardo had ordered me not to reveal his whereabouts to Natalie. That’s why I hadn’t dared answer her calls all day-I was afraid I’d cave under her questioning.

But after thinking it over, I was Leonardo’s subordinate, but I was also human. I had personal feelings outside of work.

Leonardo had always treated me well, and I wanted him to be happy.

I’d seen his loneliness and inner turmoil all these years.

If Natalie could help him break out of his shell and find more happiness, I could handle a bit of punishment-it would be worth it.

Luckily, Natalie worked fast. Before any punishment could come my way, I got a message from Leonardo first.

It seemed that just seeing Natalie was enough to dissolve Leonardo’s anger.

I wisely left the supplies by the door, texted Leonardo, and made myself scarce.

When I got back downstairs, Victoria’s car was still there,

She hadn’t left.

I thought about just driving away. But after some consideration, I got out of the car again.

I knocked on Victoria’s window.

If I hadn’t seen her, I could have pretended not to know. But since I did, professional instinct kicked in-I had to deal with it.

If Victoria stirred up trouble tomorrow, it would just spoil things for Leonardo and Natalie, who had just reconciled.

Victoria’s POV:

I didn’t know how much time had passed before Aaron came back down. His hands were empty now.

Outside the hotel, she thanked me quietly and tried slowly to get out of the car herself. But her movements were unsteady. She held onto the door for a long time before barely managing to stand, her body swaying slightly.

I sat in the driver’s seat, conflicted. My duty was to serve Leonardo, to ensure peace for him and Natalie. Victoria was a problem from Leonardo’s past. Logically, I shouldn’t get involved.

But… she genuinely seemed unwell. And if something happened to her here, the fallout could eventually reach Leonardo. Out of professional habit, I had to minimize any potential risk.

I sighed and unbuckled my seatbelt, then got out and quickly walked around to her side. I took her arm to support her. “I’ll see you to your room,” I said, my tone leaving no room for argument.

“No, it’s fine…” She tried to pull away, but her strength was gone.

“Don’t push yourself, Ms. Thompson. Otherwise, shall I call an ambulance right now?” I pulled out my phone.

She pressed her pale lips together and finally stopped resisting. She let me help her into the hotel lobby, onto the elevator, and to her room door.

She used her key card to open the door, walked in, and turned to me. “Thank you. I have medicine. I’ll be fine after I take it. You can go.”

I stood in the doorway, unmoving. “I’ll leave after I see you take it.” Leonardo had taught me to see things through to the end, especially matters that could have consequences.

Victoria seemed annoyed but too tired to argue. She fumbled in her small bag and pulled out a pill bottle. Then she shook out a tablet and swallowed it with water from the bottle in the room.

“Okay. You can go now,” she said, waving a hand.
