Chapter 335 My Soul Is Dying
Landon’s POV:
I should have been furious, rushing forward in humiliation. But for a moment, I felt numb, frozen in place.
I didn’t want to admit it.
The two of them were perfectly matched, from their looks to their bearing.
Even passersby near them paused for a moment, casting admiring glances. They didn’t even need to release their pheromones. Their natural harmony was palpable.
So, the man by Natalie’s side was real. Had she truly moved on?
My heart tightened. The sight hit me like a sudden, painful wake-up call-even breathing hurt.
I’d hung around outside her apartment all day, like a lost ghost. I wanted to see her. I wanted to spill everything that had happened these past few days, to tell her all the things bottled up inside me.
During our years together, Natalie had been my solace. Whenever I was upset over Aaliyah or felt defeated by family or business, being near Natalie calmed me. She had a natural ability to soothe my soul. With her by my side, I could find peace and focus on building myself up.
I only understood this now. The truest form of love wasn’t possession or sacrifice. It was the desire to see the other person flourish, to stand by them quietly through ordinary days.
But I had been chasing my own obsession, mistaking dramatic passion for love. I had ignored what I truly wanted deep down.
Maybe I was drawn to Natalie from our very first meeting, slowly falling for her over time.
All these years, with her beside me, I had grown more and more reckless.
With Natalie around, I felt more alive.
Since she left, it was as if my soul had been drained, fading away little by little.
No. They stopped because the man noticed another flavor of cheese roll. They spoke in low tones. She even reached out to touch his waist, then hugged him. They were laughing, their eyes only for each other, completely shutting me out of their world.
I felt dizzy. Seeing Natalie really leave with that man, I scrambled up to follow. But as soon as I stood, I stumbled and fell.
An older man nearby caught me.
An older woman looked at me with pity. “They’re long gone. Seems you’ve lost this one. Don’t humiliate yourself further. Let it go.”
“Exactly. Why torture yourself? There are other fish in the sea…” the man sighed.
Other bystanders, seemingly moved by my display, offered similar words of sympathy. But to me, they were just another stamp on my shattered pride.
I shouted, “Get lost! What do you know? Get away from me, all of you!”
I stumbled, pushing through the surrounding crowd. I lurched after them, but by the time I got outside, Natalie was already gone.
