Fake Mate Beta Rises to Alpha Heiress (Natalie and Landon) novel Chapter 339

Chapter 339 You Are So Cheap

Lily’s POV:

“Thirty thousand dollars?” I paused for a second, then nodded without hesitation. “Okay. I’ll pay it.” On the way here, Ezra had told me over the phone that the parents had already paid four thousand dollars in medical bills. The cut on Ellis’ head wasn’t large-just a few stitches and a minor concussion.

Paying a few thousand dollars on top of the medical costs was a huge amount for us, but if it settled things, I’d accept it.

“Thirty thousand dollars? Are you trying to insult us?” Delilah snapped instantly. “It’s three hundred thousand dollars! No deal, and we’ll sue! And your brother can forget about staying in this school!”

“Three hundred thousand dollars?” My face went pale. This wasn’t compensation, but was extortion. And there was no way I could come up with that much money.

Harry’s POV:

“I didn’t hit Ellis on purpose! I was trying to stop him from hitting a little kid!” Hearing them demand three hundred thousand dollars, I looked up and yelled. All my pent-up frustration finally burst out.

I quickly explained everything to Lily. Ellis, whose family had money and connections with the local werewolf chamber of commerce and school board members, was a bully who got away with everything. Usually, he just picked on anyone. But the worst thing was how he targeted younger kids.

I’d noticed for a while that he always had five or six little boys and girls around him, giving him regular “tribute.” I didn’t know where they got the money and snacks, but they had to give something to Ellis every day. If he wasn’t satisfied, he’d beat them up outside of school. I’d seen it happen a few times but had held back.

Today, he was bullying a little girl again, hitting her so hard he split her lip. I was just standing there watching. He noticed me, punched me a few times, and started insulting our family. I was already furious. I saw red. I saw a small brick on the ground, and without thinking, I hit him in the back of the head with it. Afterward, I regretted losing my temper. And now I’d dragged Lily into it.

Lily had told me to keep my head down and just get through school no matter what.

Lily’s POV:

After hearing Harry’s explanation, I finally understood what happened. But the reason didn’t really matter. In a world where the strong prey on the weak, the price for “justice” or “impulse” was often more than families like ours could pay.

Her greedy eyes swept over Samuel’s expensive clothes, especially the gleaming Rolex on his wrist-worth at least a million dollars alone. She probably thought she could squeeze even more out of me.

Samuel took a drag from his cigarette, slowly blew the smoke right into Delilah’s face, and waited for her to cough before saying leisurely, “Three hundred thousand dollars isn’t much. Should be enough to buy your son’s life.”

I froze. Was he sticking up for me? His method was like pouring oil on a fire, though.

Josiah was furious. “Watch your mouth!”

Samuel smiled, his expression full of open contempt, “My mouth is fine. Best keep your own mouth under control. And honestly, you are so low. You finally get a chance to extort someone, and you only ask for three hundred thousand dollars? That’s less than what I pay for a steak for

my dog.” His words were vicious and arrogant. They wouldn’t help solve anything, but they were satisfying to hear.

Sure enough, Delilah and Josiah were livid. They were left speechless for several seconds, unable to form a retort. Finally, Josiah pointed a shaking finger at Samuel. “Are you here to start trouble? I’ll have Harry thrown in jail. I’ll make sure he never sets foot in another school…”
