Chapter 346 Bloodline Stabilizer
Leonardo’s POV:
Miranda was always gentle, but that day she was trembling with anger, arguing back.
I was normally distant, treating Miranda with respect but not closeness. Yet after all these years, I’d come to see her as a mother in my heart. Seeing her humiliated, a powerful rage seized me. I threw my drink in the man’s face.
The conflict escalated. That old bastard actually took a swing. Miranda stepped in to stop him and was shoved, injuring her arm.
What happened next was fragmented in my memory, stained red. I only recalled the old man screaming curses in the chaos, calling me a “bastard who killed his own mother,” a “filthy- blooded monster”…
When I came to, the place was a wreck. The old man was barely breathing, and I was being forcibly restrained by several family guards. My fangs were bared, my nails sharp as claws. I was radiating pure violence, soaked in the heavy scent of blood. That was the first time I’d ever lost control in public, my emotions triggering a full, mindless shift into my wolf form.
Natalie listened, her brow furrowed, her eyes shining with a mix of heartache and anger. She tightened her grip on my hand, as if trying to share the pain of that past.
Natalie’s POV:
Hearing Leonardo recount this broke my heart. I couldn’t smooth the worry from my brow.
I was starting to understand. Every time Leonardo’s emotions overwhelmed him, it was tied to wounds from his childhood.
But it was just too cruel. Even hearing these fragmented shadows from his past was almost too
much for me to bear.
Thankfully, Jayden didn’t push him to talk more about the childhood trauma itself. Instead, he analyzed the triggers for Leonardo’s emotional outbursts.
Leonardo’s traumatic stress responses always happened when someone important to him was hurt.
Deep down, he always feared the important people would leave, and he’d be powerless to stop it.
And Ryan’s lifelong conditioning had never allowed him to forgive himself.
Soon, that topic wrapped up. Jayden didn’t perform any kind of psychological intervention like the previous doctors had. He didn’t even label Leonardo’s behavior.
He just talked with Leonardo about the past, like a friend would.
“When your life is firmly anchored by a mate and a home you are determined to protect and build together, I believe you will find a way to coexist with that power-even master it. The turbulence in your blood will be gradually steadied, anchored by that powerful conviction.”
After Jayden finished speaking, silence settled over the room. But this time, it was a warm, comfortable quiet.
Natalie’s eyes were full of soft light. She reached up and touched my check. “Hear that?” Her voice was gentle but clear. “You have to protect me from now on. So, to protect me for a long time, you also have to protect yourself. Control it. Don’t be afraid of that power anymore. We can face it together.”
“Okay. The word was thick in my throat. I stared into her eyes, seeing only my own reflection, and felt that any other words were useless. A promise like that could be said a thousand times and never be enough.
I leaned in, letting my lips brush the tip of her nose, then her cheek. The touch was gentle, trembling with a love that was overwhelming yet fiercely restrained.
Soon, Fiona and Autumn returned with a feast for lunch. We ate together in a relaxed atmosphere. Jayden had a tight schedule and left shortly after the meal.
Natalie and I saw them off downstairs. Before getting into the car, Jayden turned to us one last time.
He said, “The scars of trauma may not vanish, but they can be overlaid and transformed by new, stronger bonds of mind and heart. Love and understanding, trust and companionship- these are a more powerful ‘bloodline stabilizer’ than any ancient ritual. Be well.”
The car drove off. Natalie and I walked back slowly, fingers laced together. The afternoon sun stretched our shadows long, merging them into one.
