Grace said, “Who are you going to settle scores with? Do you have any idea that Natalie is the heiress of the Scott family? The only daughter of Alexander, the leader of the Moon-Shadowed Pack!”
My movement froze completely. The blood in my veins froze in an instant, then rushed to my head in a hot wave. I turned to look at Grace as if I couldn’t comprehend her words.
“What did you say?” I asked.
“I said, Natalie is the heiress of the Moon-Shadowed Pack, Alexander’s daughter,” Grace said each word through gritted teeth, yet with exhausted resignation.
Grace’s POV:
Before Landon arrived, I had already come to terms with this fact-one that would overturn everything we thought we knew.
That orphan girl we had looked down on, used, and considered easy to manipulate—that seemingly docile, low-ranking mixed-blood Beta-had not only undermined the Thorn Pack’s foundations but had also become the heiress of one of the top werewolf packs in Maritime City and the nation-the Moon-Shadowed Pack.
But the blows had been too relentless. With life and death laid out before us, any remaining rage or emotion was pushed down deep in my heart.
I tossed my phone onto the bed. On the screen was a brief financial news snippet about the Moon-Shadowed Pack quietly welcoming back their heiress. In the accompanying photo, the woman standing in the corner of the banquet hall, her profile cool and her gaze detached-who else could it be but Natalie?
The Scott family heiress’ return had been low-key. But there were still related news reports. It was just that no one in our Richardson family would have paid attention to such things. How could we possibly have connected a business titan so far beyond our reach to a low-ranking mixed-blood Beta like Natalie?
Landon’s POV:
I picked up the phone, my knuckles white from the force of my grip. The familiar yet chillingly distant figure on the screen made me dizzy. Dark spots swam before my eyes.
Her actions over this period flooded my mind. Natalie had moved out of the house without a sound. So that was when she had already claimed her identity as the Moon-Shadowed Pack

She kept blaming me for deceiving her feelings, acting morally superior, and claiming I had betrayed her love. But what about her? Hadn’t she deceived me, too?
She had inherited a fortune yet never honestly told me! She had played me, played the entire Thorn Pack, like pieces on a board! She watched me suffer, be consumed by guilt, and be willing to bear all the scorn just to win her back. And all of it, in her eyes, was probably just a laughable game, a meticulously planned revenge!
Natalie’s heart was so cruel!
A sharp pain hit me-not physical, but the agony of a soul hurt by the truth. My brows furrowed tightly. My eyes burned, but I couldn’t cry. I had always thought it was me who owed her, that I had ruined our future.
But it turned out that the person who kept me trapped in guilt-the person I was willing to risk the entire Thorn Pack and break my promise to Aaliyah for-was the truly heartless one all along!
If she had ever truly loved me, how could she have hidden her own identity?
I was sick with longing for her, tormented by regret, while she drove the Thorn Pack and me to ruin, then turned around and formed a bond with another man.
Only now did I finally see how utterly ridiculous I had been.
Natalie never loved me. She used me, deceived me, and took her revenge-she was the one with no heart!
“Natalie.” I ground the name between my teeth, gripping the phone tight.
Grace’s POV:
Watching Landon’s face twist in pain, my eyes reddened, but I fought back the tears. “You understand now. None of this was your fault. Natalie is the Moon-Shadowed Pack heiress. She was never on our level. She was just toying with us. Thorn Pack is finished, not because you failed, but because from the very beginning, we provoked someone we never should have.”
Finding out that Natalie was the Scott family heiress had, strangely, brought a bleak calm to my despair. Knowing our opponent was a colossal force gave an answer to the long-held resentment and confusion. Aaliyah had been a disaster, but Natalie was our inevitable ruin. The Richardson family was fated for this trial.
Louisa was gone. I was old. Benjamin was lost in his own mind. Thorn Pack was crumbling. I couldn’t bear to see Landon destroyed as well.
