I was a little surprised. Leonardo had always believed in strength and control, keeping a respectful distance from stories about gods and spirits. Yet here he was, taking it so seriously.
I was still holding the instant camera. Just then, an evening breeze picked up, and the clouds on the horizon churned like burning waves. I quickly raised the camera and pressed the shutter.
A soft click sounded. Soon, the photo slowly emerged, the image gradually developing. Against. the backdrop of the blazing sunset, Leonardo’s tall, straight figure stood quietly beside the ancient, towering tree. His hands were pressed together, his eyes lowered, with a focus and sincerity that could soften the hardest heart. Frozen in that light, he looked beautiful, like an oil painting.
At that moment, Leonardo opened his eyes. Seeing me staring, he smiled slightly.
“All done,” he said.
I smiled, carefully tucking the photo into my clutch as if it were a priceless treasure. Then, I also faced the ribbons with our names, swaying gently in the breeze, clasped my hands, and silently made the same wish-to be with the person beside me, for lifetimes to come, never to part.
On the way back to the hotel, I finally showed him the photo, like presenting a treasure. “Look what I captured! The mood is perfect, and the subject is even better!”
The twilight, streaming through the car window, cast a soft glow on his sharply defined profile. He took the photo, studied it, and said in a deep voice, “You took it, so of course it’s the best.”
He pretended to pocket it, but I snatched it back, holding it to my chest. “No! I’m keeping this one. Maybe when you have a more handsome photo, Mr. Sanchez, I’ll consider swapping.”
“Okay,” he said, indulging with a laugh.
I said, “Leonardo.”
“What?” he asked.
I relaxed against his shoulder, lifting the photo to admire it again. “You never used to believe in things like this before, did you?”
He was silent for a moment, his gaze drifting to the lights rushing past the window. Then he looked back at me, his eyes deep, holding something firm yet tender.

“If… it can make my wish come true,” he said slowly, his voice low and clear, “then from now on, I choose to believe.”
Aaliyah’s POV:
Early the next morning, at the suburban cemetery in Maritime City, the Richardson family held a simple funeral for Louisa. The wake for her had lasted three days-Landon had been there the whole time-before she was buried next to Gabriel.
After leaving the cemetery, Grace went to the hospital to look after Benjamin.
James shot Anna a look. She immediately caught up with Landon and me, suggesting we go to their place for a meal.
Landon didn’t respond. I quickly grabbed his arm. “She’s right. It’s been hard on everyone. Let’s have a meal together.”
Louisa’s death had hit Landon hard.
When I rushed back from Kaelis City, he looked so haggard I barely recognized him. The arrogance he once had as an Alpha was gone from his eyes. So were all his confidence and spark.
I stayed with him through the wake. To this day, he hadn’t spoken a single word.
Honestly, I saw this as a chance to mend things between us. Landon was vulnerable now. Surely he was completely over Natalie.
With me holding his arm, Landon stopped walking. He didn’t refuse, and he didn’t agree either.
So I took charge, linking arms with Landon and leading him to the car.
Anna’s POV:
James and I had talked these last two days. The Thorn Pack had no chance of a comeback now. Benjamin, a middle-aged Alpha who’d been knocked down, would struggle to regain his former status and strength.
As for the inheritance Louisa left, managed by the Werewolf Trust Fund… we’d been asking around quietly. Even if Aaliyah and Landon dissolved their mate bond, if they were found to still be closely involved, the fund managers could freeze the assets.
It would have been easier if Louisa were still here. With her sudden passing, the men running the foundation won’t be so easy to deal with.
It wouldn’t be simple for Landon to get that money. He’d be better off sticking with Aaliyah,
