“I will. Landon’s going through a tough time. I’ll take good care of him.” After saying that, I tried to follow Landon, but James kept talking.

He asked, “So… you are staying in Maritime City, right?”

it.”

His question made his intentions clear. “We’re family. If you have something to say, just say

James smiled, handing me a business card, “Aaliyah, with the Richardson family in this state, I’m having a hard time at my old firm. Since you’ll be heading the Gallop Energy branch here in Maritime City, could you bring me on?”

Seeing a flicker of hesitation in my eyes, he quickly added, “Aaliyah, don’t worry. I’ll support you completely. Our family needs to pull together now to get through this. I’ll always back you and Landon up!”

Looking at James’ utterly sincere expression, I smiled. I reached out and took the card he offered.

“I’ll keep it in mind.” Without waiting for him to say more, I walked away quickly, giving no further commitment.

Landon’s POV:

I knew Aaliyah would follow. So I got in the car and automatically took the passenger seat. I had been utterly exhausted these past few days. As an Alpha, I could barely keep up a basic appearance. I only got three hours of sleep a night these days, and I was extremely exhausted.

Aaliyah didn’t disturb me on the way. I slept all the way to our doorstep.

Back home, I went straight to the bedroom. Before Aaliyah could enter, I closed the door.

I didn’t want to face her. Giving her the cold shoulder was the only way.

At Anna’s place, Aaliyah had forced that kiss on me. By the end, I’d reacted. I’d kissed her back. While my body didn’t reject hers, I still had no desire to engage with her emotionally.

Aaliyah’s POV:

I knew I couldn’t push him too hard right now.

I knocked a few times, waited a moment, then stepped inside.

Landon was already back in bed, lying down. He hadn’t even changed out of his day clothes, just pulled a blanket over himself.

The curtains in the room were all drawn shut. The atmosphere was gloomy and oppressive. His pheromone, once a crisp, sharp mix of cedar and fir, now carried only decay and bitterness.

It left a sour taste in my heart.

Landon used to be so meticulous, not just about his appearance. His living space would never have been this messy and dark.

If not for that lowly hybrid Beta, Natalie, his life would still be dazzling. The Richardson Group wouldn’t have fallen this far.

I sat gently on the edge of the bed. “Landon, let’s start over, okay?

“Nathan says he misses you. He wants us to be a family again.

“The Thorn Pack isn’t what it was, but at least we don’t have to hide anymore. The company’s gone, but we can build another. I’ll help you, I promise.”

I leaned lightly against him, speaking each word softly, with a sincerity I’d never shown before. Because I wanted to give Nathan a complete family, and I refused to accept this as our ending.

And because… I still loved him. These years of hardships had only made that feeling more obsessive.

“You say you love me. How much?” Landon finally spoke, his voice a raw scrape.

My heart leapt. I immediately got up and sat beside the bed, looking up at him. “I’m willing to shoulder the Thorn Pack for you, to support you with everything I have.”

“You’re prepared for utter ruin?” Landon studied me, his eyes and tone utterly flat. It was calm -too calm. But I could feel the tension building-thick, hot, waiting to snap.

But I couldn’t think about that now. My only thought was reconciling with him.

“I’d do anything for you, just like you once did for me.” I deliberately brought up the past, when he defied the pack for me, when we had our secret bonding ceremony.

But the mention made his gaze turn even more fierce.

He suddenly clutched my chin, his fingers so hard that tears sprang to my eyes. But a moment later, his hand loosened, gently cupping my cheek, pulling me closer. This abrupt shift from roughness to tenderness made my heart skip.
