If Lily hadn’t said Natalie told us not to intervene, I would’ve come here earlier to slap some sense into that pair.

Just then, I got a call from Liam. He asked me to keep an eye on Aaliyah and Samuel and stall them for a bit.

Natalie had contacted Liam this morning. He was on his way to the Scott Group to represent Natalie at the signing.

Aaliyah said, “I see. So you’re here on Ms. Scott’s behalf…”

“I’m here to keep you company for Samuel. Ms. Cooper, have you had breakfast? Just coffee isn’t enough,” I cut Aaliyah off, standing up. I noticed the coffee and pastries beside her. One pastry had a big bite taken out of it, complete with a lipstick stain.

Third Person POV:

Aaliyah could sense Chloe’s hostility. But this was the Scott Group. Although confused, she didn’t want to cause trouble.

She said, “It’s fine, I can eat after we finish. Please, don’t trouble yourself.”

“No, I can’t neglect a guest like this. My treat-let’s get you something to eat.” Chloe wasn’t sure how to stall someone. Frankly, her first instinct was to just punch the problem. She didn’t even realize how stiff and forced her tone sounded.

Without waiting for Aaliyah’s consent, Chloe grabbed her arm to pull her along.

Aaliyah naturally resisted. “What are you doing? Let go of me!”

“I’m treating you to a meal!” Chloe said coldly, twisting Aaliyah’s arm.

Aaliyah’s slender arm was no match for Chloe’s grip. She cried out in pain, bracing against the table as they struggled. “I’ll call for help if you don’t stop!”

People outside heard the commotion and rushed in. Gallop Energy’s project manager saw Aaliyah’s disheveled state and asked, “Ms. Cooper, what happened?”

An assistant sent by Cameron quickly stepped forward with tissues for Aaliyah. Both ignored Chloe, who casually stepped aside.

“My apologies, Ms. Cooper,” Chloe said flatly, her tone utterly perfunctory.

Aaliyah was fuming but couldn’t lose her composure in front of everyone. The assistant suggested, “We still have time. Should we go to a nearby store and buy a new set?”

This was, after all, an important signing ceremony. Her current state was inappropriate.

Aaliyah gritted her teeth and glanced at the culprit.

Chloe met her gaze from the corner of her eye. “If you don’t mind, Ms. Cooper, I have a spare suit. You’re welcome to change into it.”

As angry as she was, Aaliyah had to admit Chloe’s offer was the most practical solution.

Seeing Aaliyah hesitate, Chloe deliberately turned to leave.

“Don’t mention it. My bad for causing the mess,” Chloe replied, smiling-though the smile didn’t reach her cold eyes.

Chloe led Aaliyah to a changing room on her floor, handed her the outfit, and walked out.

Aaliyah didn’t overthink it and started changing immediately.

But when she finished and tried to leave, she found the door locked from the outside.

The changing room was at the far end of the employee lounge area, which was completely empty at the moment.
