Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1411

As far as the brothers were concerned, their father was a massive liability. If he was stupid enough to leak highly classified corporate strategies to Sabrina and Bella, he deserved to be exiled from any future dealings with the Winthrops. His credibility was utterly bankrupt.

The brothers arrived at the Winthrop residence carrying lavish gifts. When they walked in, Lillian was already there.

The new Winthrop villa was elegant but surprisingly understated, devoid of the massive antique collections that usually defined old money. When the family moved their operations overseas years ago, they had taken their multi-generational wealth with them, leaving very little behind.

Currently, Old Mrs. Winthrop's children are still there, and they didn't bother to bring most of their belongings back. The Winthrops were locked in intense negotiations to buy back their original sprawling ancestral estate, but properties of that magnitude took time to acquire.

Consequently, no one suspected that the Winthrops were actually in financial decline. Lillian certainly didn't think twice about the modest decor.

To her, Beatrice Winthrop looked a bit older, but her commanding, warm presence remained completely unchanged.

"Lillian, darling," Beatrice smiled warmly, "I personally cooked a few of your absolute favorites. I kept the seasoning light. Eat up and tell me if it tastes anything like your grandmother's cooking. After all, she was the one who taught me."

Lillian felt a sudden, sharp pang of nostalgia. She missed her grandmother's cooking terribly.

Beatrice's words instantly melted her defenses, drawing them closer.

"Beatrice, you really shouldn't have troubled yourself. Thank you for spoiling me," Lillian said softly.

"Your grandmother and I weathered countless storms together. We were closer than sisters. Her children are my children, and her grandchildren are my grandchildren. Spoiling you is exactly what I'm supposed to do."

Compete with him on speed? Please. He spent all day dodging attacks and navigating crowds for Lillian. If he lost a game of musical chairs to these corporate stiffs, he'd be too ashamed to ever face his boss again.

Brandon settled for the seat next to Ethan, keeping him relatively close to Lillian. Tristan was relegated to the seat on Beatrice's other side.

Once everyone was seated, Beatrice picked up her silverware and placed the first portion of food onto Lillian's plate.

It had to be said—in this entire world, only Martha and Beatrice could perfectly replicate Lillian's grandmother's recipes. Beatrice's version was perhaps even richer than Martha's, utilizing the finest ingredients, making it practically indistinguishable from her grandmother's touch.

Taking a bite, a profound, comforting warmth spread through Lillian's chest.
