How could she possibly swallow this willingly?
She was completely dumbfounded. Just one day short! She had missed the ultimate prize by a single twenty-four-hour window!
"Bella, your ending won't be a bit better than mine. Even if you married my son, you will never find an ounce of happiness. Deep down, you and I are exactly the same. I gamble at the tables, and you gamble with your very life—what's the difference? I am vile, but you are infinitely worse. Even if you secure this fortune and drag yourself out of this crisis, do you honestly think your life will always be this lucky? Will you miraculously survive every obstacle thrown your way? No, Bella, you absolutely will not."
Bella brutally suppressed the urge to strike her across the face. No, getting physical now was a catastrophic idea.
First, she was in hostile territory. Second, any commotion would instantly alert the staff outside.
Most importantly, Debbie was strictly within Sebastian's protective sphere. Hitting her was essentially slapping Sebastian directly in the face.
Not that she didn't desperately want to slap Sebastian.
That ruthless bastard refused to give her a single cent in the divorce settlement. Why?
They had exchanged vows; they were legally husband and wife. Did he honestly think he could just kick her to the curb and leave her entirely penniless? He was out of his mind.
Bella took a slow, grounding breath. "Stop whining. Is complaining going to magically increase your cut? Just sitting here is a massive risk for me too. If your son finds out, I'll be dragged straight to hell alongside you. So, either you hand over the password right now, we split the cash, and we all part ways permanently... or you can keep clinging to this stubbornness. If you do, none of us sees a dime, and the money rots in your bank account. It'll just sit there until it turns into your inheritance and goes right back to your precious son."
As she spoke, a dark, cynical laugh escaped Bella's lips. She clapped her hands mockingly. "Great, great, that's a brilliant plan. At the end of the day, you really do love your son..."
Before she could finish the taunt, Debbie screamed, "Fine, we'll split it! It's just a password! 654213. Do it, split it right now!"
Even if she was entirely confined with nowhere to spend it, she demanded control over the funds.
If she couldn't claim the money, it truly would rot in the bank and inevitably fall right back into Sebastian's lap.
The mere thought of how astronomically wealthy Sebastian already was—yet he still refused to spend a dime on her—made Debbie's blood boil.
Even if this $1.2 billion had been dragged straight out of her son's pocket, it was nothing but a drop in the ocean to him.
Regardless of the disaster, securing his millions was infinitely better than walking away empty-handed.
But a second later, they both witnessed the catastrophic shift in Bella's face.
Her expression...
What was that look?
It was the sheer horror of a woman who had just watched her life savings vanish into thin air.
Lucas called out tentatively, "Bella?"
Ignoring the sharp pain in her ribs, Debbie leaned forward urgently. "Transfer my cut to a new card right now... Wait, what is that look on your face? Did someone die?"
Bella snapped. "You died! Your whole miserable family died! Where is the money? Debbie, where the hell is the money in your account?"
