Lillian Mercer said nothing, offering no explanation whatsoever.
What was there to explain?
She didn't even know when she had become the official owner of Halfridge Villas. Leonard Prescott hadn't breathed a single word to her about gifting her the estate.
But none of that mattered right now.
Brandon Mercer really had some nerve, she thought. She wasn't even his sister yet, nor had she agreed to return to the Mercer family, but he was already mapping out how much she would supposedly suffer if she did.
Fortunately, Ethan Hayes stepped in to derail the conversation. Brandon didn't wait for Lillian to agree to let Sabrina Ward stay at the villa; instead, he trailed after Ethan, bombarding him with questions.
"Mr. Hayes, what's the current market value of Villa Number One at Halfridge?"
"How much did Lillian drop when she bought the place?"
"Is the deed in her name, or my mother's?"
Ethan shot Brandon a look that screamed: If you're out of your mind, check yourself into St. Jude's Psychiatric Center. Why are you annoying me?
What crime had he committed to be subjected to this interrogation?
Lillian ignored them both. She sat quietly, listening to Celia Bennett discuss factory operations and production schedules with Tristan Winthrop.
Even though Tristan clearly had no desire to discuss the topic, his hands were tied. Celia was Lillionix's designated representative for their manufacturing orders. Whether he wanted to or not, he had to endure it.
If he refused to engage, he still had to fake it!
If Celia decided to make things difficult for them later, what then?
Lillian trusted Celia implicitly when it came to this.
She was more than comfortable leaving the entire manufacturing side of the business in Celia's capable hands.
