Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1494

Beatrice Winthrop carefully turned the idea over in her mind. It sounded like he had indeed done a thorough job.

She hadn't even considered kicking the two of them out of the house.

Brandon had managed to think of the one thing she'd missed.

Kicking Martin Mercer and that wretched mistress and her son to the curb would certainly give Lillian some peace of mind when she moved back.

She nodded approvingly. "Yes, that's an excellent idea. Lillian should appreciate that.

But if she still hasn't agreed to move back, does she feel you haven't done enough?

Brandon, I think your family needs to push harder. I'll find an opportunity to put in a good word for you as well. Plus, the partnership between the Winthrops and the Mercers is officially underway.

As for the marriage alliance, shouldn't we put our cards on the table sooner rather than later? It would at least give Lillian time to prepare.

After all, she currently has a boyfriend."

As her words fell, Miles Winthrop suddenly snorted, unable to hold back his laughter.

Several pairs of eyes snapped toward him.

Old Mrs. Winthrop narrowed her eyes dangerously. "What's so funny?"

Miles leaned back. "Grandma, I'm not going to lie to you. My gut tells me Tristan has zero chance!

If you pivot your strategy right now and tag me in, the Winthrop family might actually have a shot."

Furious, Beatrice raised her hand and smacked the back of Miles's head.

Brandon couldn't help but chuckle. "Miles is exactly the same as he used to be. So lively and entertaining.

But based on what I know about Lillian, she's incredibly status-driven. When it comes to choosing a man, she demands someone powerful.

She only fell for Sebastian Blake in the first place because he was powerful enough, right?"

There was some truth to that. Lillian was status-driven, but back then, she had been entirely aesthetic-driven.

She had fallen for Sebastian primarily for his strikingly handsome face; everything else came second.
